Just go for the free wifi and bottled drinks. Don't bother ordering anything else. One of our orders was for focaccia with mozzarella and tomato. Now if you're walking round Venice in the pouring rain and you're looking for a cup of tea I'm sure you can do worse than this place. Staff friendly and the cakes look good!

We stopped here for a quick dinner and immediately regretted it. The pizza was easily the worst I've had including shop bought oven ones in the UK. My fiancee had the rissotto that appeared fresh from, presumably, the microwave. A couple sat down next to us as we were eating, saw our food and got up and left. The worst... More

Stopped off during a day of venetian exploring for a coffee and a quick bite to eat. Food was ok...nothing special but not inedible. Overall bill was what we expected and didn't feel like we payed over the top. Waiting staff were not rude but also not overly attentive. Would stop for coffee again but wouldn't run in there for... I have read the negative reviews about the pizza and pasta at Bar Torino, but on a visit to Venice in 2012 my friends and I at lunchtime would buy the tramezzini (Venetian sandwiches with a variety of delicious and generous fillings) and take them back to the apartment where we were staying. We enjoyed these so much that when... More

Food is terrible. Just go next door and grab a croissant or something at Marchine Time instead. This could be your worst food experience in Venice,

I had a Pizza and my wife had a Pasta dish. Both were comfortably the worst we had in Venice. Service was fine and cost was similar to much nicer restaurants. Should of checked it on Trip Advisor beforehand!

Don't even enter this place, it is indeed a rip off. They cannot even make a decent coffee. We asked a tortellini Bolognese and they gave us something bathing in a slippery cheese sauce. This place SUCKS!

Staying in Venice and had lunch at this restaurant today. My husband had the tortellini and I had the cannelloni. My husband also had a coke to drink .... The food was awful - no better than you would get from a Tesco ready-meal. The portions were also tiny. The meals were 7 euros each, while the coke cost 4.50... More

We went to Bar Torino for a quick snack and had two focaccias (half portions that they normally serve in Venice) and two cokes. We noticed the coke was draught with lots of ice (not a bottle or a can). The food was okay but we were ignored when it came to pay the bill. We got up and attempted... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
