Great little afternoon spot

We were recommended Rosa Salva and set out to find it, hampered by the closure of a key artery bridge. It was worth it. Great coffee, very tasty cake and perfectly friendly service - functional, but nice. There's loads of choice and enticing take away miniatures to keep you going... read more

Great pastries. This place is always super busy. It was a little hard to find at first because the location on trip advisor is a few blocks off. We had some cream filled pastry, I really wish I knew the name. All their cream filled pastries are amazing so u can't go wrong. Make sure to go here if your... More

Our walking tour guide recommended Rosa Salva during a break on our tour, and we enjoyed a pastry and espresso at that point. Later in the day, we returned for more pastries and gelato. Everything was delicious, and staff were very friendly.

Go to the island of San Giorgio Maggiore and from the terrace of the Rosa Salva caffe you will have one of the best views in Venice.

Everything looked great, but I fell in love with the fritella chantilly, it just melts in your mouth.

Reading previous reviews I was prepared to meeting rude staff. They were not particularly friendly or overly polite but I haven't come across their rudeness either. Nice and fresh pastries. Pop in and have a coffee with a macaroon or something local.

The coffee is good, but the real delicacy at the carneval time is fresh and amazingly delicious fritella with zabaione cream. It is very hard to resist and to eat only one a day

The staff are rude by any standard, in particular an elderly waiter. I was standing in the queue in a crowded and busy shop, which I am sure is inconvenient for the staff but I do not expect to be openly sneered at by the employees. As the gentleman came to get through the crowd he glared directly at me... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
