On our third day in venice we thought we would venture down the back streets near St Marks for an authentic eatery as so far we were left wanting . We know all about menus with pictures and waiters pouncing on you as you stop to look in the window so when we stopped to read this menu which had... read more

Stopped in for a few drinks and possibly dinner. The waiter was so obnoxiously rude and condescending that we decided to just wrap our drinks and go elsewhere for dinner. Upon hearing this, he grabbed the tin of bread sticks from the middle of table and collected the silverware. Every time he walked around the corner and thought we couldn't... More

Food barely adequate as is the service. Parker type rolls in this Italian restaurant. When we complained the owner snickered at us.

We ventured in to this Trattoria mainly because it was close to our hotel and the weather was terrible. I asked for fish soup and it came with shellfish(i.e. seafood soup) which I can't eat due to allergies. When I explained this they happily replaced it with a vegetable soup and were very friendly from then on. We greatly enjoyed... More

Situated between Rialto and San Marco, this cosy restaurant would have to have the best pizza's I've ever eaten. 2 of the 4 nights my friend and I ate there because the food was great, affordable and the staff were lovely. Highly recommended

the restaurant is a disaster. I ordered a simple lasagna. They served a frozen lump that had been quickly warmed in a microwave at too high a power, the top was burned but the middle was still frozen. When I sent it back, the cook cut half of the lasagna away to later claim that "I had nearly finished it"... More

Had a meal here when stopping in Venice, had a lovely evening meal which was a reasonable price and the service was great. Just a short walk from Rialto- worth the find!

Worst service I've ever had in a restaurant. Really a terrible experience in Veneza, in Oct 2014. Waiter was very rude, they refused to prepare a risotto after we ordered, saying the restaurant was about to close. 10 minutes later 2 couples have arrived with no restrictions. They also turned off the wi-fi to put the clientes out. There were... More

I had a terrible experience at this restaurant! I don't recommend to go there at all! One of the waiters was on a hurry to close the restaurant and we felt that we were not treated as customers there. We had ordered a risotto (even knowing that it would take longer), and 5 min after he canceled and gave us... More

We happened upon the place in our aimless wanderings through San Marco it is on a North South alley between San Marco sq and Rialto Bridge. It seems like your run of the mill place but had surprisingly good seafood, I would recommend the Muscles and clams appetizer. I also had the Lobster ( for two). The Lobster was reasonably... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
