Nice evening

Enjoyed our family meal here. The pork chops were huge. Frutti di Mare was good as well. Service was good and fun to watch the boats go by.

Great tasting authentic Venetian food. A little bit of a walk from the main drag but well worth it, when you get there.

Nice place. Beautiful setting Canel side and slightly busy walkway offering a cafe feel. Venetian dining experience. Family style restaurant, owner helps u pick your dinner, offers wine by the bottle, pay for what you drink. How cool. My dish the green pepper Crewe filet was great. Perfect sauce perfectly done. The seafood dishes of course looked even better, especially... More

Found this great family run restaurant in Venice. Owner has been running the restaurant for over 30 years and your can feel they really care about their food and customers. Food is excellent and prices are better than the average for Venice. Good menu selection of italian food. Highly recommend you try when in Venice. Not sure what to eat... More

The only thing out of the ordinary with this trattoria is that it's located in a very nice part of Cannaregio and that it's good to be able to sit both by the canal and in a small garden.

The food is simply excellent. Service is truly outstanding. The toasted/fried bread they give you in the beginning is sensational. We were recommended two seafood pastas and sea bream " which was filleted at the table. I can honestly say we did not have a better meal in Italy. The service is very warm and you are made to feel... Listen to your waiter's recommendations. He/she knows what is best. We were leaning towards more Rome specialties and our waiter, Peter, steered us in the right direction. The squid ink pasta was amazing, best ever. This restaurant is in a great local neighborhood, and we were treated as such, Highly recommend!

Along the Misericordia canal are quite a few restaurants and we were interested in eating outside by the canal. We decided on this restaurant based on the menu on display and the sign indicating it had a 4 rating on TA. We were hungry and thirsty and hoped we would be served soon but it took a while before we... More

Traveled Rome, Florence, Venice and ate here twice for our two best meals of the whole trip. My husband says the "seafood in spicy broth" was best meal of his life! Also loved seafood spaghetti, spaghetti carbonara, tortellini with mushrooms, and both red and White House wines. Delightful service and owner. English is well understood here. First visit, we sat... We found this restaurant by accident, strolling through our neighborhood, and are so happy we did! The food is awesome and the co owners create a warm welcoming environment that's hard to beat. You can either sit in the lovely garden out back (our favorite) or on the canal. Just to name a few, we loved the appetizer shrimps with... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
