Not too expensive restaurant along one of the nicests canals just outside the buzz

Good food, lot of choices, friendly personel ans quick as well. Typically Italian; a lot of tables in a tiny but very good restaurant

This was our last night in Venice and we wanted to have a special meal. We picked this restaurant because it looked warm and friendly. Unfortunately it didn't live up to expectations. Having booked a table earlier in the day we ended up at the back by the kitchens. We ordered veal because that was what it said on the... More

Such a great place on a quiet canal. So friendly. We were in no hurry and had to wait for an outside table for about 10 minutes. The host brought us Proseco. He offered us a table in the garden which was also nice but we said we preferred to be on the canal and he said, and I quote,... More

Friendly waiter, unfortunately sat in the garden with extremely little light and the fish was not deboned. Yet we saw other diners have it filleted. Made for an unpleasant eating experience.

We went there for a dinner. The seafood appetizer and the spicy spaghetti with prawns were so yummy that we still missed them in the following days.

We have been to Venice many times and know that the tourist restaurants can be mediocre at best. This was a great find. Excellent food, very charming staff - nothing is a problem - and reasonably priced too. It was nice yo escape from the hustle and bustle of the main streets. Would highly recommend

Beautifully baked whole fish with vegetables. Deboned and served on top of vegetables. Great atmosphere by the canal. Local busking musicians serenaded the restaurants. Great staff and a lovely garden courtyard out the back

This restaurant gets it! They are all about the dining experience. We have dairy and gluten issues and they took great care to make sure those were addressed. We enjoyed dinner here twice during our visit to Venice. This is a great restaurant that should be enjoyed by all that come to Venice.

The staff was very friendly and even humorous. Here you'll find cooked-to-order dishes such as seafood risotto. The restaurant made changes for a member of our party that's allergic to shellfish but politely declined making changes for another because the change would interfere with the quality of the recipe. We were all very satisfied with our food and with the... More

Just paying the bill at this small, friendly trattoria in a back street alongside a canal in Venice. Our waitress was full of good cheer and fun, food was great value and beautifully prepared. €18 euros for two courses, water and a glass of nice house wine. Thoroughly recommend.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
