Enjoyable dinner

Had dinner here our second night. Not terribly fancy, but friendly waiters. Sarde en saor was good. Squid ink pasta was good. Husband had the schie en polenta, which was fine but not great and the porcini and zucchini tortellini, which he really liked. House white wine was decent. Tiramisu was... read more

I also never go into empty restaurants, especially when the one right next door is almost full. But this place looked interesting and was reasonably priced. I had a good lunch, so I certainly don't consider my choice a mistake. Yes, there is a cover charge (coperto), but anyone who travels and eats out a lot knows this is common... More

Walked past during lunch, and despite being it being empty and the restaurant next door being pretty full, I read the decent Trip Advisor reviews and decided to go in. Was a mistake and I should have known better. Waitress was obviously having a bad hair day and I never saw her crack a smile the entire lunch, with us... More

We come here first time a few days ago. Really like pasta di mare. So delicious! We decide to come here next time... So we came here... Drink local white wine (it's good)... But especially likes sea bass fish! Freshly and perfectly taste!!! IMHO: best mare dishes in Venice! Prices are the same like near Realto, BUT it's big difference... More

We had dinner at this restaurant beside a canal on our last trip to Venice. The food was excellent, with an outstanding branzino and liver in Venetian style as our main courses. The staff was very helpful. We would certainly go there again.

We ate here two different evenings. On both occasions the food and service was superb. Wonderful fish and exquisite pasta. Would recommend to anyone looking for good food in an atmospheric setting.

The seafood dishes here were fantastic and very traditional. The restaurant had a nice intimate atmosphere and it was in a quiet canalside location, away from the busy and overcrowded areas. The seafood platter starter was very good, and so was the sweet and sour sardines. The inkfish cooked in its own ink was a brilliant main course and the... More

My mother and I are on our first trip to Italy and wanted to have dinner on the water away from the crowds. We strolled through some alleys and onto a road and found this restaurant. The waiter and servers were extremely friendly and helpful in making suggestions for my mom and I. We were not in the mood for... More

Lovely, relaxed, quiet canal side location on an esplanade just north of where the main hubbub dies down. A really good plate of zucchini, Parmesan and mushroom tortellini and quite veggie friendly more generally. Well worth a visit.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
