Good option for dinner in Giudecca

My wife and I visited this lovely little restaurant when we stayed at the Hilton Molino Stucky Hotel nearby. We decided to have an evening stroll and discovered this delightful restaurant. When we arrived at about 8.30 it was packed with diners but we were welcomed by the friendly owner who within minutes showed us to a table. The ambience... More

After days walking around the main city looking for places to eat that were not too dear, we decided to take a stroll along from the Hilton and found this place. The owner cant speak a word of English but we got exactly what we wanted and cooked how we wanted it. That was all part of the fun. He... More

With a view to die for. The service for us is always excellent - but it helps if you speak Italian. The food certainly isn't gourmet but then neither are the prices. We have been here several times and it is always dependable, good fresh food at reasonable prices for Venice.

Ristorante Al Redentor is the main eating spot in the Campo San Giacomo dell' Orio, the food here was very good, reasonably priced and service great. We at inside as it was very breezy outside, but a seat by the window allowed us to feel like we were outside without the chill. Enjoyed the local patrons with their well behaved... More

We had lunch there...we were welcomed with a rather unfriendly "no pizza" - waitress meant to say they were not serving pizza for lunch. We thankfully asked what fish they use in the fish risotto to find out it's mainly squid and shell fish. I decided to give their lasagna a try, found these rather average, my husband had the... Short version: Don't waste your time and money. Me and my girlfriend went here after walking along the water looking for a place with free tables. Since the prices were a bit lower (not much) than the other restaurants nearby we decided to sit down. Things started out fine and we ordered the fish risotto. Since it was 15 euros... More

The opening times can be a little confusing but they do really good food here and so it is worth persevering. Sitting outside gives a marvellous view over to the Dorsoduro and if you are here during the day, do visit the church next door - a masterpiece by Palladio. We had pizzas here a few nights ago and they... More

As mentioned below (I presume the same incident) my friends and I experienced the poor man being grabbed, shouted at and pushed around when he refused his change of dozens of coppers etc. we were so appalled we didn't want to pay the bill, but being too scared, we just left out the service charge of 4€, told the waitress... Staying in Giudecca

Neighborhood Profile
Giudecca
Giudecca is a retreat for Venetians away from the crowds. Symbolically, six metal teeth represent Venice’s six sestieri (districts); the seventh, Guidecca, points away from the others – part of Dorsoduro, but separated by the Giudecca Canal. Giudecca evolved from a center of shipyards and factories to a quiet residential area with a sprinkling of restaurants and bars. The majestic harmonious Redentore church stands as thanks for delivering Venice from the plague, hosting an annual heartfelt festival.
