One of only a few who ventured that way on a pleasant December evening and it was well worth it. Branzino was fantastic, Rissoto was super and gluten free pasta was worth the wait. We were sent here by their sister restaurant as it was full. When ordering, I asked for a recommendation of a white fish to share with my 3 year old daughter, saying we only needed a normal portion... I was told sea bream was the best option. When the bill came, I had been charged for 2 sea breams- a... More

Everything was great! Good wine, good food, good service! We had the beef carpaccio, chefs tortilinis and the tiramisu. The only thing that I would possibly complain about is the price which was still quite ok.

This was our first dinner out, as it was next to the hotel. Nice service and decor, especially the lamps. I chose the humble pasta tomato basilico, really good, and my spouse went for the giant scampi, a deception. Prices are high, and there is a 4€ cover charge per person.

After 2 days of always good service and food, despite dire warnings from other Tripadvisor reviews about Venetian service and quality of food, with only hours left before departing, literally stumbled upon this delightful place. Service was excellent and the Carpaccio was the best we have ever had (small confession.. I always order it so had more than my fair... More

for our last meal in Venice before catching the Alilaguna water transport back to the airport, we wanted a place that was close to the departure pier. This restaurant is on the Riva Schiavoni in Castello, so a 5 minute walk. Having done painstaking research on all the restaurants we had previously dined at, this was a bit of flyer... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
