Average taste

Food had average taste, pizza was quite good. Scalopine was quite good also. The worst was that they wanted to pay cash although they had sign for credit cards.

The food was mediocre and there are plenty of other restaurants available in Venice. I personally wouldn't recommend. Staff wasn't attentive and kept knocking my chair as he walked pass.

I went there with my friends, we were on a school trip and we were upset of that awful food included in the trip. So we started looking for a traditional restaurant because typical food is fundamental for knowing well a city. We saw the notice of this "trattoria" and we were sure it was the place perfect for us.... More

If you haven't been out for dinner since 1994 and you still find spaghetti bolognese exotic; then you won't hate this place. However if you have gone a little out the way looking for a hidden gem then you have picked the smart price of service and food. Simply, don't come here, whilst the owner and waiters grumpily and nostalgically... More

We went as a couple and both had starters. these were large portions I had taglatelli with pesto and my wife had a capris salad. We followed this with pizzas and these were the largest pizzas I have ever seen or eaten. Toppings were a bit sparse but enjoyable to say the least. Left with a full tummy!

Four of us visited this restaurant for dinner in October. The menu was quite confusing. One couple ordered the fish of the day which was shown at a very reasonable price. When the fish arrived we found out it was 50 Euros ($65) instead of the price shown on the menu. We also had a seafood appetizer which none of... More

I was hoping that we would be able to find little out of the way places that had just amazing food, but when we were ready to eat, we were also not well prepared . . . wandered to find a place. This was one of the less successful visits. I must admit that it was influenced by the fact... More

This restaurant is truly awful. We were visiting at the height of the tourist season but it was only half full which should have told us something. Despite there being several empty tables the waiter made two men stop mid mouthful as he moved their table to put us on the table by the wall. Two of the four meals... More

Honestly the most terrible customer service encounter me and my partner have ever had. We had just enjoyed a lovely day exploring Venice and saw this place on the way back to our accommodation. It was pretty busy probably due to the fact we visited in high season and looked fairly nice but don't be fooled. After being pushed to... More

We stumbled upon La Rivetta while looking for a combination breakfast/lunch spot in Venice. What a great find. We did not look at the reviews ahead of time. And so am glad we didn't. We each had a first and second course and everything was fantastic. My husband and I had their house red wine which was a perfect compliment.... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
