We sat down for a late night glass of wine and some appetizers. Waiters seemed angry that we didn't order more. They got us back by charging us for extra plates without warning. Here's your warning...stay away (or bring your own plates!) !

We stumbled upon this restaurant looking for another place to eat. We were seated outside; our servers were excellent and quite attentive. My husband and I shared a caprese salad and the most delicious seafood mixed plate with shrimp. scallops, anchovies, clams, octopus....it was fresh and flavorful. The house wine was quite good. My husband and I ate here for dinner on a VERY hot evening. Started with bruschetta to share, which was ok, nothing outstanding but the pizzas were lovely. Hubbie had Diavola and I had something similar that had anchovies and aubergines. I asked for no anchovies. This is the first pizza I have had which had aubergines on it, and... More

The waiters were actively uninterested in us, grumbling to themselves and us as we asked them for water, or to replace the very hot red wine they served. The pizza and pasta were very basic, hard base and not at all good. Total bill of €90 for a family of four, for a 1-course lunch. This includes a 12% service... More

Found this nice outside restaurant walking west of st marks. Casual wear is acceptable and the service is very good. The mussel and clam appetizer was wonderful. The seafood pasta was perfect great meal for outside casual.

I had my first lunch in Venice at this restaurant. It was not very cheap so if you're on a budget, this may not be an option. However, the food was great so I thought it was ok to splurge once. I had grilled calamari and a salad, both were fresh and tasted lovely. The portions were very generous. The... More

One of the great things about Venice is wondering the streets and getting a little lost. We just happened upon this charming restaurant with a private patio courtyard nestled between several buildings. The food was terrific, as was the staff. We started with a Venician seafood platter and carpaccio. The 6 of us ordered a different pasta dish and several... More

Our apartment was in Saint Angelo square, so Hostaria Galileo became our choice (of several in the square) for an end of day dessert or cocktail. Really friendly staff and excellent desserts! Great for a mid-day stop for a leisurely Peroni or Moretti and Wifi, too.

We called here for a beer and a nice piece of cake. They have a lot of seats in a large outside area in quiet square. A very pleasant location to watch the world go bye.

Nice moment between friends. But for one dish and a dessert it took 2 hours so you need time... on a nice and airy terrace. Proposed wine was good. Plate not too full but good enough. 1 dish, one dessert, a bottle good wine. Count 45 euros per person. A nice lunch...

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
