If you love to mingle in 50% tourists and 50% Venetians, having a Spritz(exists not only con Aperol !), this the place. Even the quality of it went down a bit, the cichetti are still very good . Specially on warm days you'll find the people mostly outside on the wall in front of the canal chatting with each other... More

Atmosphere of other times, it seems to be back in the late '70s. The owner is a great lady always smiling and happy to entertain its customers explaining the variations of its "cicchetti", in fact we have taken ten for each. Amazing assortment of bottles of wine, both labels largest sizes. Perfect for the aperitif !!!

Seriously this is the spot to be for some snacks and drinks pre-dinner. Great selection of wine and amazing snacks. Just go, you'll feel like a Venice insider. But don't let the secret out!

We arrived shortly before their closing time, and I wish I had allocated more time! The walls were covered with wine, and there were so many interesting bottles. I went to the bar to order a bottle of prosecco, and I asked which bottles of prosecco were chilled so I knew which to choose from. The gentleman behind the counter... More

We carefully researched where to enjoy a drink and a snack with locals during our visit to Venice. At 'Al Bottegone', probably better known as 'Cantine del Vino Gia Schiavi' we found exactly what we were after and felt our efforts were well rewarded! Al Bottegone is a wine shop and bar that also offers 'ciccetti', somewhat akin to Spanish... More

My girlfriend and I visited Cantinone Gia' Schiavi on our first afternoon in Venice. It took us a while to find as we crossed one to many bridges but once we stumbled across this fantastic place we indulged in a lot of white wine and snacks. The staff we very friendly and while there were setting up for an evening... More

This is where you need to be at 6 o'clock when you're in Venice! Went there a couple time and weren't disappointed. Enjoy Spritz and or a glass of wine with many of the tasty tapas. Great wine shop as well. Helpful and friendly staff. Even if it's crowded, work your way to the counter and enjoy!

Well located authentic wine and cicchetti bar with over 1 500 wines all over Italy, but most importantly the most important Venetian wines. Full of local Venetians enjoying aperitivo prior dinners.

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
