Never mind the decor, love the food.

We're not very good at choosing restaurants and, for any proprietor who happens to be wading through these reviews of ours, it's a good idea to lavish a whole ton of money on flash decor and absolutely nothing on chefs, kitchens and food and you can be guaranteed at least two diners. They might be... read more

Best meal (and overall dining experience) in Venice...by far!! Food was excellent. Ambiance in the garden was romantic. Prices we're very reasonable for the quality of food we got compared to other restaurants we've been to in Venice. Waiter was very friendly and helpful explaining/recommending items on the menu. If you want the table for the night, you got it...they... More

Located on a small canal off the beaten path of the milieu of tourists, the garden is a beautiful, relaxing place for a lovely dinner. The service is gracious albeit a bit slow, but that was a positive not a negative. The food is very nicely presented and the portions are very large. Three of us had fried fish with... More

The food, the place and the service were so lovely! Never thought to find such a great, non-touristic place! The price was also really good, so this restaurant really has the total package. From walking by you never suspect its such a great place, so im glad I found the advice on tripadvisor. Two dutch friends

The garden is a very nice setting for dinner after a day wandering the canals of Venice. The staff is very pleasant and interested in making your dining experience unhurried and gracious. We began our meal with a very nice Venetian appetizer, a mix of Adriatic fishes, which was elegantly presented and large enough to share. Most of the dishes... More

We ate here on our first evening. The menu is limited but this is fine with me as it could be sign that the food is freshly made, and that proved to be the case. The menu seems to change every day but gets posted outside the restaurant early so if your passing you can check what the choice that... More

Had a birthday dinner there with my family of five. Everything was excellent except for the service, which I normally would overlook but the restaurant was not overly crowded. Pasta, fish, meat, all superb. No an overly creative menu, but 4 out of 5 on all accounts.

My wife and i were staying, up the canal, and it was a pretty rainy first day in venice when we decided to eat at Ristorante Ribot. It was one of the few well ranked restaurants near our hotel by the piazzale di roma. We had a very nice meal here and thought that it seemed priced right for what... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
