Bar Verde Venice. OK Cafe

We dived in here out of the rain. The food was OK and the coffee also OK. The WC was acceptable. The staff pleasant. I didn't feel I was ripped off. About 35 pounds for six sandwiches and drinks.

We visited here for a hot chocolate, sat at a table, had our drinks given to us and then had our cups moved to another table as we 'were sitting at a table for six which we shouldn't be doing.' The waiter then proceeded to give the table to another couple of people, yes two people so the point was... More

My wife and I spent 6 nights in Venice in January this year and took our 8 month old son. We found this bar/cafe on the first day and were pleased to be able to get the buggy in without blocking people. The food choice was fantastic and so too the drinks. We ate there several times, often enjoying the... More

Waiters impatient and ignorant to get my bill. Was busy so thought it must be a good place. Poor coffee go both cafe and cappuccino. Avoid!

We came across Bar Verde and immediately noticed that they were showing the 2015 Rugby! The sandwiches all looked nice, fresh and were reasonably priced, as were the drinks! A busy bar but the staff were all attentive. WC made me giggle but were fairly clean!

This place was near our hotel and during a 9-day stay in Venice we stopped by several times for lunch or dinner. What drew us in initially was the display of sandwiches in the window. They did not disappoint - perfect combo of bread, meats, and veggies. I'm going to try to replicate my favorite of arugula, bresaola, funghi and... More

We were pleased to discover Bar Verde because they have two screens and we could watch Rugby World Cup matches here. The food was of secondary importance, but we enjoyed some light snacks, spaghetti and wine. No complaints. Waiter was sharp and attentive and staff coped well despite the crowd.

I went to this restaurant after reading about it in Rick Steeve's Italy 2015 book and I was very pleased with the food and service. I ordered the mozzarella and prosciutto sandwich and a strawberry bellini which were both delicious. I also enjoyed people watching as it's at the end of "Sandwich Row" a couple of streets past the Bridge... More

Venice is the most beautiful place on Mother Earth . Went there for a Macchiato, an orange juice and a Panini before we hit the busy lines of the Museums. Was told if I wanted it ( for here or to go ) and clearly said for here !! Then at the far left side of the bar .. A... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
