Nice place and good food

Food was good but not as good as to get 5 starts. The main let down was that pasta was too salty, not one but the 4 dishes we ordered were very salty. Service was good and place is small and cozy.

We walked in off the street and were given a table but with a time limit as the table had been previously reserved. We did watch the waiter pick and choose who he let in, but this obviously works for them as it was full. Hence the title - worth a try! Really yummy food, esp the hot chocolate soufflé... More

This review is very unlike the majority of reviews you read for Staffa. The food for us was decent, the Scampi de Sara (a Staffa special) was delicious (albeit terribly unhealthy), and the selection of local seafood was excellent. However, the service was awful. My girlfriend and I ordered a first course to split, and each ordered a second course.... More

If you want good fresh pasta there is better for less within 600m! My feeling is; the window Trip Advisor 5* sign is an opportunity to raise prices as demand rises - quality can suffer as a consequence. Nice atmosphere - lower prices, improve the number of covers whilst maintaining the rustic atmosphere - improve food quality and keep and... More

Read reviews of this restaurant before we arrived in Venice so it was already on my list of possibilities and then it was also recommended by a local so we decided to book a table and I'm so glad we did. Small but intimate with only 6 tables this restaurant fills up quickly and understandably so; the food was amazing!... More

If you are looking for an authentic Italian restaurant with a nice and cosy atmosphere, that's your place. Delicious authentic Italian food with a nice and casual service. It's small place, around 20 seats, thus helps to keep food quality. We were lucky to have found the restaurant for dinner, far from the main stream in Venice. We also had... More

Better than the tourist traps on the main canal but by far not the best Italian I had while in Italy (even for that price range)

Welcome was personally done by owner. You did feel the "welcome" in everything. Leave the advice for the menu in the hands of the waiter/owner and you will be satisfied. Fish, dessert, ... Name it. Next time in Venice, we will go there for sure again.

A nice family-run restaurant off the beaten path in Venice. The gnocchi is a house special and their huge plate of liver will test your courage in every way possible. Decent prices and decent food. We made a reservation but they didn't have it when we showed up. Very Italian! Well worth exploring.

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
