Just back from a second visit to this wonderful little restaurant in the Dorsoduro neighbourhood in Venice - and it was just as great as during our previous visit last year. Very friendly service and fair prices. Mostly full of locals but still friendly towards the occassional tourist. Can highly recommend having dinner here - and especially the tuna tatar... More

Small restaurant away from the crowds, with a trip advisor award I expected better. I'm fortunate enough to come to Venice on a yearly basis. I'm American and my companion is Italian from nearby Venezia Julia. We stumbled on this little place after visiting the Peggy Guggenheim collection. Actually we were looking for another restaurant we couldn't Locate and decided... More

From the moment we stepped inside this establishment we knew it was going to be a good experience. Although very laid back as far as the owner's behaviour was concerned the waiter (on his own) did a great job looking after every table. We thoroughly enjoyed our seafood dishes and grilled vegetables and the house wine was a very acceptable Pinot... Visited the other week. Food was ok but nothing special, can't see why it's rated so highly in an area out of the tourist area.

A night we won’t forget for the rest of our lives! No really, it is not a joke! Fresh and delicious food, great wine recommendation from the owner of the restaurant and unprecedented levels of warmth in the hosting from Alessio (star waiter) and Kliff (genius cook). After a lovely meal of fresh fish of all kinds from the lagoon,... More

Since this restaurant is only steps from the San Basilio vaporetto stop, we had walked by it several times without considering to stop and eat there. Also, it is on a small street, with people walking by as they come and go to the vaporetto. It looked rustic, a basic trattoria. The surprise is that the food is much better... More

This is not along the beaten path but I suggest you beat a path to it. Walk straight back from the S. Basilio vaporetti stop. One of the best meals we had in Venice! The food is outstanding and the wait staff and owner treated us like we were there regular customers. I wish we could have gone twice!

We stumbled upon this amazing gem and it was one of the best meals I've ever had! From the excellent service from Alex and his wife Sophia to the phenomenal chef, Cliff, we had the foodie's dream. Shrimp scampi (raw), oysters, Ombrina (bronzino cousin) perfectly baked in sea salt, strawberry Tiramisu to chocolate mousse...spectacular!!!!

This Restaurant was a medicine for my Soul - cozy ambiente, kind staff, superb food (seafood, salads) and wine... Only one minus - no desserts... We found it accidently, but after a hard day in Venice (20km walk) was this relaxing cozy restaurant really a gift :-) Definitely a must for my next Venice - trip

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
