perfectly good but not especially memorable

food, service and wine were all good; the atmosphere was quiet - regrettably the dinner wasn't especially memorable. Cost 60 Euros per person.

This restaurant is quite probably the best in Venice and is certainly one of the best in Northern Italy. It combines ambience, excellent service and a perfectly thought out and balanced menu. Speaking of the menu first, don't be deceived by the understatement when you look at it on their website. An example, "Mixed Grilled Fish" is actually a tasting... More

Hard to find, but served up some excellent food. We tried the gnochi for first course and mixed seafood risotto for second course, both very full flavoured and delicious. For dessert we tried the strawberry panacotta and caramel panacotta. All in all an excellent place to dine, might be a good idea to make a reservation as it's not too... More

Great food and service. Quiet place. We went there twice ! It was the best food we had in Venice. I liked it more than other fancier places. The restaurant was recommended by our tour guide. It was not easy to find and we had to use GPS.

This restaurant came as a recommendation from our host - and it was simply a lovely meal. We reserved a table for 9.30, and one was waiting for us on arrival. On reading other reviews, this is apparently a husband and wife team who run the restaurant. The restaurant was busy, but the lovely host made us feel welcome. We... More

Lovely authentic restaurant but advisable to book as quite small inside. We shared the seafood risotto which was beautiful. I ordered the beef tagliat which was lovely but quite a large portion so if you are not that hungry don't over order! Service was great and the waitress even walked us to where we had to get the boat taxi... More

Friendly, genuine people. Excellent food - everything casareccia (home-made).Short but select wine list. Pleasant outdoor eating. Homely and unpretentious. Not many tables so best to book. Meal for two with wine and beer was 141E so mid-range in price.

My husband and I went here for dinner, and the reviews we had read did not disappoint! We sat on the patio and enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. We both ordered the pumpkin gnocchi with scampi as our first course. Homemade gnocchi, done right, is one of my favorite things. This was excellent. My husband had grilled fish for his second... We found this charming restaurant thanks to Tripadvisor. We would never have found it otherwise. Truly great meal. Close to our hotel. Go!

We happened upon this restaurant on our final night in Venice and felt like we hit the jackpot by the time we left. Everything we ordered was delicious and this ended up being the best meal we had in Italy and one of the best we had the entire trip. The service was friendly and the prices were reasonable.

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
