Seafood cooked perfectly

We spent most of our time in Venice eating snacks but I chose this place as the one sit down meal we would have. We started with the steamed clams and mussels in broth as an appetizer. We had researched a place to have a special dinner in Venice and this place didn't disappoint provided you are not bothered about decor. The place is located down a small alley and has only 8 covers. Front of house was run by the chefs wife who greeted took orders and served the food faultlessly. The menu choice was ideal... More

Enjoyed a lovely dinner here on a Friday night. We stopped in during the late afternoon to make a reservation for that evening and were lucky to reserve a table as there are only 7-8 tables in the restaurant. The atmosphere is very casual and extremely friendly. Strictly family affair - she runs the front by herself and he runs... More

Found this little gem while returning to our hotel. Did not expect it to be that popular as hidden away in a narrow alley. On entry found it very busy, although it has only 1 room the owner fitted us in. Although busy we had a nice table in the corner, service was quick and the food great. Customers varied... More

We stayed in Venice in late January 2015 and ate here on a Friday evening. It was fun to find the place and my success at navigating the canals and alleyways impressed my partner. Super starters of sea food platters followed by a wonderful chickpea based soup and a delciate pasta dish with artichokes. I had cuttle fish as a... More

Two of us got in without reservation.first we tried Venetian style seafood platter, comes with seabass, scallops, white tuna, pickled anchovies, shrimp and calamari. Lightly seasoned with herb, salt and olive oil and lemon. Ingredient seems fresh and delicious. My hubby ordered black ink pasta and he really enjoyed it. He said that was the best pasta he tried in... More

Small, tasteful Osteria a little off the beaten path in San Paolo/Santa Croce area. Particularly enjoyed the pumpkin gnocci and scampi, and pleasant house white. Good service.

By walking by, you would never have guessed this door led to such a good meal! To start, we ordered an assortment of grilled veggies and a salad of rocket and parmesan cheese. My wife ordered Gnocchetti di Zucca con Scampi e Radicchio Tardivo and recounted that the flavors were very well balanced. I ordered Fillet of Beef with Pepper... More

Thanks Tripadvisor, what a great recommendation! Beautiful simply presented FRESH food! Salad greens don't taste this good in the USA. Tasty fish dishes in a cosy family run restaurant, very friendly service, especially for us non-Italian speakers!

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
