We discovered this restaurant quite by accident near our hotel on the Grand Canal. Run by a husband and wife team, the food is excellent and fresh. The room is quaint and small but not uncomfortable, and is dressed up in bright colors. There is a movable awning that allows the room to be open to the sky. What drew... More

Our hotelier recommended this local gem. Husband and wife serve up great food! We made this a seafood night and enjoyed fresh seafood, probably hand-picked this morning at the fish market (just a 5-minute walk). All carefully prepared. Lots of great flavors. And the panacotta with caramel sauce sensually revealed several delightful textures.

We had a wonderful dinner. I had the best tuna that I believe I have ever had. All of the dishes were excellent. The food preparation, presentation and service could not have been better. This was our favorite restaurant in Venice

One of the best meals I've had in Italy by far. Just a cook and his wife waiting on us. Absolutely outstanding food. Try the exquisite lamb chops and the cod paste. Superb!

We visited the restaurant on the first day of our visit to Venice. It is a very nice place, although difficult to find but well worth the effort. The service was relaxed helpful, friendly and the meal was excellent. I will certainly go back again.

A romantic last meal for our last evening of a four day break in Venice. Everything delicious and well prepared in a friendly welcoming quiet atmosphere.

Absolutely wonderful little restaurant which is quite hard to find but worth the effort. Run by a very friendly husband and wife, the food was superlative. Particularly recommend the mixed seafood and cuttlefish in black ink with polenta. Quite old fashioned interior but really excellent food at a reasonable price. Probably a good idea to book in advance. Enjoy!

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
