Just accross the Ponte Ascedemia. Lovely and serean in a quiet pizza very near to Pizza San Marco. Wine not served by the glass - they open a bottle of wonderful house wine and only charge you for what you drink. Excellent friendly service and good food.

My favorite restaurant in Venice

I visit Venice very often and always make it a point to eat here at least once during each visit. Yes, it's pricey, but the food is very good as is the wine list. My favorite pasta dish is the busiate with seafood. They also make the best tiramisu. As for the reviewers who have complained about... read more

Overrated... They think they're special and, they are not. Service not so good. Food was food (no typo). Never visit Venice (only to say you been there), Florence and Rome were much better. PS don't eat here. Nothing to brag about.

This is a very smart and seemingly fashionable restaurant. Waiters are efficient and just haughty enough and service is reasonably slick. We were there in early spring and the outside tables weren't available so inside was full and very noisy although, unsurprisingly, not uncomfortably so. The food is ok, I had a pasta with nero di seppia which was more... More

Such a shame this dining experience fell well short of expectations, especially being our last night in Venice. Thankfully the shoddy kitchen standards & poor attitude of front of house staff experienced at this establishment isn't typical of our visit to Venice. The waiter at the next table went to the kitchen to check on the availability of a fish... More

A dinner for two at this restaurant was one of the highlights of our stay in Venice. The location in Campo San Stefano is truly lovely; eating outside was great; watching dusk fall and life in the Campo pass by the restaurant was like being in the theatre! The menu is in Italian; the Maitre D' was charming; there is... More

There are several restaurants in Campo San Stefano. A Beccaficio looks the poshest., and seemed to be very busy when we passed by. Just in case, we decided to book for dinner after we had lunched next door. When we returned in the evening we were recognised and greeted by the waiter who'd taken our booking. The tables are outside... More

Our second visit to Venice this year and again to Beccafico. The quality makes it popular so best book a table in advance. The menu is in Italian but the waiters speak many languages and are always extremely helpful. We have been eating here for around seven years and never been disappointed.

We stopped here for a drink and to review the menu with the intention of eating something then or coming back a little later. The waiter arrived at the table almost immediately, asked what we wished to eat. When we said just a drink for now (whilst we reviewed the menu) he said, no, no drinks only. He then yanked... More

The linguini and clams that I ate at this restaurant is one of my Top Ten Meals of all time. We sat outside under the shade of a tent on a large Venetian square. The table setting was elegant, and the prices were reasonable for Venice. The wait staff was a bit stuffy… when we asked if they had a... More

Awfull, awfull, awfull. Unprofessional, rude, loud, useless waiters. We sat down for a small lunch and a drink, however we couldn`t found anything on the menu /just italian no english translation/.So we decided to have just a drink. Well, all the waiters made such a big issue over this, talking about us; after this they made us feel so un welcome.... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
