Just accross the Ponte Ascedemia. Lovely and serean in a quiet pizza very near to Pizza San Marco. Wine not served by the glass - they open a bottle of wonderful house wine and only charge you for what you drink. Excellent friendly service and good food.

Solid Food Good Pastas and Nice Fish

I could just go there for the lobster and spaghetti with an excellent tomato sauce. The staff was very nice and when we asked to switch pasta they said no problem. Great setting on the Campo just a short walk from the Accademia Bridge. Good wine list. Try the cannoli for dessert. Everyone seemed... read more

We have eaten several times on the terrasse of this very pleaxant restaurant. Their pastas were excellent, 'al dente' , tasty. The main courses were equally pleasant . A good selection of wines provided for always an agreable. The service was always impeccable: efficient and polite. An excellent price-quality ratio.

We chose this restaurant in Venice without knowing its reviews. It was the best meal we had on our trip. The server was extremely friendly and patient with our questions about the menu. We had a delicious and attractive antipasti platter and several different pastas. The pastas were all freshly made and had great flavor. There are literally hundreds of... More

The staff at Hotel Ala where we were staying recommended A Beccafico for lunch. We walked about 10 minutes and emerged into a large piazza near the Accademia bridge. There was a nice mixture of tourists and locals enjoying a stroll at lunch, walking their dogs and playing with their children. We chose to sit outside under white canopys that... More

We came here after reading a recommendation in our lonely planet travel guide and were absolutely delighted with this choice! Fab location, away from busy San Marco square but equally central. We hadn't booked a table, while we waited for a table to become available we were given a complimentary glass of prosecco and once our table was available we... More

I would not ever go there again, it started out well with one of the waiters informing us of the different foods on the menu, but soon turned sour when another waiter insulted me by (jokingly or not?) calling me an offensive expletive word, my husband became offended and asked for an apology and the waiter dismissed it as a... Wasn't impressed. Patchy service, menu in Italian and sketch translation from waiter. Food nothing to write home about either. There are better restaurants in Venice

I would not eat or drink in this Restaurant even if you paid me. We ordered our drinks from the waiter as we sat down thinking they would be correct (3 Pints of lager and 1 sprite when they came we got 3 Sprite and 1 lager) The menu is not in English/German/French or even Spanish, the waiter look's at... A hotel recommendation this, and it's worth noting that you need to choose your concierge carefully. One who has preferably who served time as a pilot/soldier/bus or taxi driver and therefore still knows how to use maps properly would be good. These days people don't use maps, because they have a smartphone instead, so the art of using one of... More

Yes the maitre D is really rude and the waiters are not the friendliest. But that being said, the food was wonderful and the setting on the square is great. Reservations are required and even then you might expect to wait a bit for your table. The food was wonderful, one of the best meals we had in Venice and... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
