Excellent Italian food

We went here on our first night. An excellent busy restaurant. Well worth booking on-line that seemed to work very well. Had a great fish palenta and my wife an excellent fish pizza. Staff very helpful and friendly. This and Osteria Trefanti the best places we found.

We passed da Mamo many times walking back and forth from our hotel and it always seemed like the people inside were enjoying themselves. So we popped in for a pizza at lunch and were not disappointed. A very solid place with very tasty pizzas. The naughty waiter added something he told us was

Ordered the capricorno and it was just ok. Overpriced for the quality. The fried potatoes however are worthy of 5 stars

We alway take advice from trip adviser but not quite as advertised Small restaurant with 4 too many tables squeezed in We went as a couple but ended up feeling like a party of 6. If you are claustrophobic it's not for you. This was a Monday night and the service was challenging maybe it was the managers night off.... More

After reading the reviews on TripAdvisor, we decided to eat here when we traveled from Florida to Venice. Even though we had a map of where the restaurant was located, we still had a bit of a hard time locating it since it is down a small alley way. No worries though - there are a lot of shops nearby... We were a group of ten friends and booked this place for dinner on our first night in Venice. The pizzas were great, freshly made with a good range of toppings. It has a lovely and very lively atmosphere which all added to the ambience. It was a great start to our long weekend in Venice

Stumbled across the reviews for this restaurant on TripAdvisor and decided to give it a go. Packed when we arrived at 7:50pm on a Tuesday so booked for the following night. Really glad we did. Most of our group had pizza. My neice has the seafood pizza whichh came with massive prawns. I had the ham and mushroom pizza. Beautifully... More

We had an excellent dinner (ravioli alle erbe, fritto misto di pesce). Service was very nice, they offered us a finger-food starter and a finger-food dessert in the end.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
