Description: Ristorante Ai Mercanti in the heart of Venice between the Rialto Bridge and Piazza San Marco is an upmarket, romantic restaurant in very cool style that enjoys a high-flying gastronomic reputation. The vaulted dining room is decorated in sophisticated terracotta and black with impressive shining globe lighting. The bar is wittily decorated with dressmakers’ forms and sexy corsets – great conversation starters. The menu is classically-inspired Venetian of a high order, focusing on things from the sea and changing every two months to take advantage of the and array of the freshest ingredients in true Italian style and pastas and desserts are all made in-house. In warm weather the dining room sprawls out onto the adjoining campiello for the loveliest al fresco dining anywhere – the Venetians who crowd Ai Mercanti certainly think so.

Visited the restaurant after seeing the good reviews on tripadvisor. It's truly outstanding. The atmosphere is fantastic and the staff are real professionals and friendly. Ordered see food for starter (shrimp) and main course (pasta with octopus). Both were perfect. Specially the pasta was possibly the best seafood pasta I have ever had. I would definitely go back to enjoy... More

Perfect positionned, menu with delicious mixture of taste with a perfect italian base. Price higher then average but quality higher also. The outside is not the nocer place of Venezia but quite, kids can run a bit to keep cool.

We have been to this restaurant 4-5 times in the last 15 years, and it just gets better and better. On our latest visit, all of the food was outstanding, the wine selection excellent, and the service friendly. When the bill came, we were actually surprised by how small it was. How often does that happen in Venice?

This restaurant, close to La Fenice and less than 10 minutes walk from Piazza San Marco, produced the best food we had in Italy on a fifteen day holiday taking in Rome, Tuscany, Lake Garda and Venice. Myself, my wife and my sister went there on our second last night in Italy and it was so good we booked for... More

This is a nice hidden trattoria with outdoor seating that really has great Venetian dishes. Each is prepared with a multi taste bud adventure. But if you are not a fish or game or organ eater your choices are limited. We all had the beef carpaccio which was just excellent with Parmesan cheese. My wife and friends then had Spaghetti... More

While in Venice, we found restaurant selection confusing. While wanting to have an authentice Venetian experience, so many restaurants were catering to the tourists. Our concierge recommended Ai Mercanti, which was tucked away off a charmng little street in the San Marco section. THe menue is the food's presentation is sophisticated with lovely blends of flavors and ingredients. Each dish... More

We chanced on this place, but it is a lovely spot. Would recommend if you are in the area. They do some wonderful craft beers which have been harder to find in venice.

After much research - trip advisor, google and it's website, I selected this to be the place for my special birthday dinner in Venice. My meal was lovely, the food was very nice, although not mind-blowingly wonderful - but perhaps that costs more? - but I found the atmosphere disappointing. The restuarant was filled with native English speakers (US, UK... More

Our hotel was very close and the young man at the desk recommended it. We liked it so much we went back the next night. It is located on a small plaza which has only one store and few pedestrians. We sat outside the first.night and it was great. Our waitress was helpful and funny-she is married to the bartender-and... More
