In addition to the menu, they lay out interesting things on the counter at dinnertime. Mantis shrimp, cuttlefish, baby octopus, razor clams, sardines, anchovies, squid... Yeah, this is authentic! We went for lunch (pasta e fagiole, cozze, baby octopus gnocchi, spinach) and dinner (mixed seafood). For the mixed seafood, I just walked up to the counter and pointed to what... More

we stumbled across this wonderfully authentic place on our wanderings. Really friendly staff. All seating on long tables. Fairly limited menu with several daily specials. Good food, good portions, good selection of local wine, and not too pricey. A very good lunch has by all

My husband and I just returned from a week in Venice. We had heard about this venue from friends as well as trip adviser so were looking forward to trying it. As it turned out we were renting an apartment right next door so were quite pleased. We finally had dinner there one Friday evening. There were mainly tourists there... More

Full of locals, buzzing, friendly place, we loved people watching here, and the food was great. The only place we ate that I would have gone back to again and again

Authentic Venetian food - mainly fish and vegetarian - with a menu which changes every day. The opening times can be a bit eccentric so best to book if time matters to you. Packed with locals. Chef and staff more than happy to prepare something off-menu if nothing appeals. Wonky chairs, long bench tables so you may find yourself sitting... More

Simply dissapointed with the food. It had been recommended to us for its selection of tapas, but the menu we were given was very limited, 5 starters, 5 mains...so I was hoping for quality over quantity, sadly neither was the case and all dishes ordered were really lacking in flavour. It seemed that the locals were offered a different tapas... More

We sat outside and ordered a full meal. Between the courses, nothing was asked: 'was it good? Do you want something else? - nothing at all'. We had to bag for another glass of wine. The food was excellent, but as we waited for another 15 min and nothing happend, we skipped the 'dolce'.

We visited Da Codroma on a sunny weekday lunchtime on the basis of previous Tripadvisor reviews but without knowing quite what to expect. As we approached, the four outdoor tables by the canal were empty - but inside was full of lunching locals. Happy enough, we sat outside in the shade of an umbrella and people-watched as we ate -... Tucked into an out of the way place halfway between the Zattere and Campo Santa Margherita, Osteria da Codroma offers a rarity in Venice: great value. First, the food was excellent: local fish well prepared. Service was good, ambiance was traditional and very fitting. And the value was truly excellent, and a real deal by Venetian standards. Absolutely first choice... More
