Great food and atmosphere

Wonderful place in Dorsuduro; traditional osteria. Fresh food was fantastic and the atmosphere in the evening was great - loads of locals eating and drinking. Initially we were disappointed not to be outside but the vibe inside was a blast. Good value as well.

On our last day in Venice we were stuck indoors due to a thunderstorm, so our time was restricted. We decided to go to this little place, quite local to our apartment in Dorsodouro, that we had walked past almost every day. It was terrific: great 'authentic' feel to the place, lovely and attentive staff, wonderful food and draught beer!... More

We ate at Da Codroma in April and I have to say it was just what I wanted. Genuine food and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. I am half Italian so do know what to expect and this place is so interested in the food and caring for their customers. They even gave us some milk to take home for a... More

It's always a pleasure to sit down at Osteria da Codroma and have few drinks and very good food! Nicola and Cristina deserve a 5 star rating for their passion and, of course for the food they serve. I suggest you indulge yourself with a spriz, a platter of entrees, cicchetti, a main or two and a good bottle of... More

Drizzling with rain we walked to this osteria near our dorsoduro apartment, not realising how popular it was. "No, no, no, oh....last two!" So we get two seats at a table which would seat 8, but is set for two lots of two customers, funnily the floor slopes a lot at this end, so whilst hubby is sitting straight on... More

Friendliest staff, authentic food, creative cook (served a fantastic veggie-pasta even though no veggie stuff was on the menu). Price? Absolutely acceptable!

Good food. It is a rather rustical place ( you would share your table), the service is efficient and polite. All guests were iItalian and local (they seemed to know each other ). Food was fresh and typically local ( moscardini and the like) So all in simple, fresh and a very pleasant experience! (5 may be overrated as it... More

To all that complain about Venice being awfully expensive, and ridiculously unauthentic, I suggest to try Codroma. A polished bacaro serving traditional veneto seafood, such as baccalà alla vicentina, great frittura mista, insalata di polpo etc. The wine list is excellent: great wines from Triveneto. The staff is welcoming and the atmosphere very warm.

In addition to the menu, they lay out interesting things on the counter at dinnertime. Mantis shrimp, cuttlefish, baby octopus, razor clams, sardines, anchovies, squid... Yeah, this is authentic! We went for lunch (pasta e fagiole, cozze, baby octopus gnocchi, spinach) and dinner (mixed seafood). For the mixed seafood, I just walked up to the counter and pointed to what... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
