Group Meal OK.

We were a group of 20 pensioners staying nearby so went for our last meal as part of the package tour. It was certainly adequate. A pasta starter followed by beef potatoes and salad, all very acceptable. House Wine was drinkable at around 15euros a bottle and it was fun for the group get... read more

We ate here twice while staying next door at hotel canaletto. Reasonable pizza and drink prices for Venice. A lot of groups stop there so at times it is busy. Service was fast though. Everything was tasty and as described. When it was hot we ate inside in the air conditioning and we ate out front in a booth one... More

We went for a 2 day stay in Venice and while walking around, found this place, which is a quiet restaurant between Rialto and St. Mark's square. We were served fast, the food was great and all in all a very decent place in Venice. The waiters were very friendly, especially a guy who cound not stop laughing; I think... More

We went there with a group who offered a lunch for 20euro/person which included 'drinks'. When we arrived there the 'drinks' were on the table. They gave us ä cheap fake Cola (Ben Cola) and some bad taste wine. The food was cheap too. There was a plate with 3 types of spaghetti. Spaghetti bolognese had no meat and the... More

Nothing to complain about, we went with a group of 27 and the food was excellent. Fairly basic but very tasty and plenty of it. Lots of wine, the red was very drinkable. Staff efficient and friendly. Interesting owner!

We were taken here by a tour guide group for a "special price". What we got wasn't special. We were promised free flowing beverages and wonderful Venetian food. We got one bottle of red and one of white-for a table of 10 people, a choice of over cooked lasagna, cheese pizza, or pasta with meat sauce (no Venetian Seafood!), and... More

This is a restaurants mainly for groups. As soon as we walked in we noticed a strong sewage smell coming from the toilets. That really takes your appetite out. After we asked a waiter what this smell was, they sprayed something and it got a little better at least in the dining room where we were sitting. Some people went... More

Weaving in and out of narrow streets, not far from the Rialto Bridge is where the Canaletto is almost hidden. We have been taking groups of 50+ professional people there in the past few years. This place, frequented by locals, serves simple yet tasty traditional Venetian dishes. The owner is most accommodating to dietary needs and special requests, even when... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
