Excellent service, good food, nice atmosphere

Really good restaurant. It's pretty small but has a nice atmosphere and a traditional feel to the place. The staff were very friendly and the food was good at a reasonable price.

I found this restaurant after checking tripadvisor for local places that were not too expensive that weren't too upmarket with their cuisine. Be warned, this restaurant seemed to have changed it's name within the last year from La Carlotta which also had good reviews, but it confused us as this was the name we were looking for originally!! Anyway, the... More

Not much to write home about. Nice service from the waiter and a very decent bottle of Soave. Apart from that it was just OK. Bill was 119 euros for 2 courses each, wine and water. Watch out for the tax charge which is actually service. So don't pay twice. Will be having a word with our concierge. I asked... More

This is an excellent restaurant with an attentive and friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. Good choice of dishes, with excellent pasta, good steak and very good fish (try the flounder/turbot for two). Prices are good for a city centre restaurant in Venice.

First night and recommended by our hotel. Rustic, traditional Italian with very friendly and helpful staff. Food was very good, albeit a simple menu. Desserts enormous, all home made, so had to share one. Very good all round.

I had a nice pre concert meal at this restaurant, and felt very comfortable as a solo diner. A really nice atmosphere, tablecloths but relaxed. Food was good. Service quick and friendly. Prices ok given this is Venice.

Unreal. I love good food, and I seek it out. This place was unknown to me, and now, it is unforgettable. I have never talked about a dish as much as I have their Spagghetti Fuita di Mare. Fantastico! We are here for only 3 nights, but we willbe at this restaurant for 2 of them. It's intimate, so you... More

We returned to this restaurant after visiting the night before and it was full. It was worth returning to! We had a seat by the window, and the whole atmosphere is just lovely. I really enjoyed my food (green pasta with spinach), the wine, and most of all, the profiteroles in white chocolate sauce! The staff were all really nice,... More

We wanted a romantic Italian meal during our stay and this was recommended by our hotel. Great recommendation. Waiter was charming and friendly. I had the parma ham and melon, husband had seafood in a shell, then we both had steak rossini which was beautifully cooked. We then shared a tiramisu - we had seen how big the portions were!

Incredible seafood appetizer. I ordered the tortellini and it was incredible, I would highly recommend it. My father ordered the steak which was okay but not as great. Good wine selection and atmosphere.

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
