Welcome return to this excellent restaurant

We found this restaurant by chance last year. It is in a pretty little courtyard, quiet but very central. We were welcomed with a glass of prosecco and the meal was as good as we remembered from our previous visit. It is very near the apartment we were renting and the only reason we didn't go back... read more

This place is named after the children's game hide and seek and is in a little courtyard hidden away, but if you find it you will not be disappointed. The service was friendly and welcoming without us feeling rushed. The food was freshly made and tasted it as well, it was also reasonably priced for the quality. It was the... More

Came here for the first time in 2011 and returned to see if the food and service was still as good, and most definitely yes it is. We arrived at about 8pm and were the only ones sitting outside. We were presented with a delicious glass of prosecco, were given a warm welcome and left to make our choices. I... More

Found this little restaurant whilst walking the streets of Venice, saw some activity down a little ally and thought i would take a look!! So flad we did, had a quick read of the reviews on Tripadvisor whilst we were there and were sold. I had the clams and mussles for starter and steak and mushrooms for main, both were... More

We have known this restaurant for some years and look on it as the place for a special meal. It sits in a little courtyard off Calle San Lio . Food is always excellent and the friendliness and manner of the owner and staff adds to the ambiance. Good selection of wines. We always enjoy our visits.

We ate here on our first night in Venice, and was one of the best meals we had during our holiday. The restaurant was just around the corner from our hotel, and the pasta was amazing. The portion sizes were huge, and the wine was perfect. We were even given a free limoncello at the end of the meal.

This restaurant is close to our hotel and we passed by it every day. Tonight we decided to try it. Our boys (age 6 and 8) each had a Pizza which was delicious. Our appetisers were carpaccio and the scallops au gratin both very good. Their fresh spaghetti with clams was sublime. Topped off with a bottle of Gavi. Would... More

We walked around Venice on our first evening out and stumbled on to this restaurant. It is nicely tucked away from the crowds with an open courtyard. We enjoyed our meal very much. Every dish was well prepared and the portions just right. Our server Luca was warm and friendly.

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
