This restaurant head and shoulders over others...French and Italian fusion....mostly seafood....I had beef filet....excellent...unusual for italian restaurants so far. Do NOT leave without the lemon mint sorbet.

Spent a glorious summers evening here overlooking Murano. It really is an idyllic place away from the bustle that is Venice. The waiters were polite and most helpful with a good sense of humour and the food was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. The lemon sorbet was by far the best I have ever tasted with hints of mint and... More

Sat on the floating pontoon restaurant overlooking Murano.....we have eaten in many places in Venice but this is the best by far. Attentive service, crisp Soave and a full bodied Merlot....and pasta to die for......Scampi and zucchini flowers and tuna and olives...all finished off with tiramisu.....planning to go back tomorrow. Fabulous!!!

Very disappointing. We tried this restaurant based on numerous great reviews and were very disappointed in the service and the food. We arrived at 8pm, ordered shortly after. Food did not arrive until after 9:30. Some of the dishes were cold. Flavor and quality was not good. We were very unimpressed. Food was not worth the price. We were in... More

Worth for the stay in Generator Venice. The hostel is clean and well decorated. Space in the 16 beds room is nice and clean. Transportation from hostel to all around the island is well connected and convenient. Worth the stay and definitely will miss this place.

We had an excellent meal at Algiubagio this week, the service was great and food quality was top notch. Unfortunately the weather was too poor to sit outside in the impressive lagoon-side terrace but we had a great time anyway. The waiting staff were helpful and knowledgable and there was a great selection of wines. I enjoyed a lovely steak... More

My husband and i were having dinner in this restaurant. The restaurant decoration is singular and the terrace is really fantastic. The ambiance and the waiting staff is very nice but we were disapointed with the food and the extremely slow service considering the price of the menu. Grissini bread was with humidity, the pasta (spaguetti) was touch. In general... More

We had eaten some of the best food of our lives in Italy and for our last night was recommend this restaurant by our hotel. The reviews here also gave it the thumbs up. The bad news... It's not great at all. First of all, the restaurant had no atmosphere and was full of weird dated decor. Then the waiter... More

I won't tell you what the menu was as it changes . We had a reservation for a table outside a few inches from the lagoon. Smartly dressed tables, efficient end utterly friendly waiters and one of the best meals we enjoyed in Venice. Add to this that prices are very reasonable and the wine list is remarkable. The waiter opened... More

A friend recommended Algiubagio and it did not disappoint. We had a beautiful early summer evening and scored a table along the rail next to the lagoon. Just a wonderfully romantic setting! The food was all very good, presented well and the service attentive. We sampled from each course and everything was delicious, from the tuna tartare antipasti to the... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
