Beautiful location, great dinner

Ate here with my husband on the recommendation of my cousin. I had the gazpacho and then the ravioli. My husband had a fabulously creamy potato soup and then the amberjack. The highlight though was the lemon, basil and mint sorbet. The best sorbet I have ever had! The food was wonderful and the... read more

visited in early August. Fantastic views of the lagoon at night from the terrace, but was quite hot and humid when we visited. I had the Sweet and Sour Sardine with apple for starter - delicious. My wife chose the Parma ham which was an enormous portion for one person - perhaps order this to share! I had the veal... More

Beautiful water front restaurant with great italian food. We were seated directly next to water, looking out to Morano Island. The sun was just starting to set, it was a great way to end a hectic day running around Venice. The food was extremely tasty. I had some great wine. it was a wonderful meal altogether.

Authentic Italian food, well prepared, food house wine, wonderful location on the Laguna - very good indeed. Service was attentive. I loved the pasta. The meat courses good, above average. Go for the fish. Desert excellent.

Beautiful location for the evening. Interesting menu and delicious food. Very helpful in making a selection for our two children, ages 9 and 10. Reservations are a must. A winner!

During our visit to Venice we managed to eat at two of the four Michelin starred restaurants. This was the first and my favorite of the two. Some restaurants earn their star by creating something new that you have not tasted elsewhere. Others earn their star by perfecting their dishes with quality. Algiubagio does some experimenting, but I think they... More

We came across this restaurant by chance having got off the water bus at the F.te Nove "A" stop. It has a floating section on the canal which looked lovely, so we booked a table for later that evening. The food, service and atmosphere at this restaurant was absolutely first class, so much so we booked again to come back... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
