Strange art but great food

Ate here several times, good location, staff friendly and food delicious. We ate both inside and out and loved the atmosphere. The pasta was fresh and plentiful.

What the heck?! This is one tragically demented place. How anyone could stay and eat here without having nightmares is beyond me. The menus have the sticky residue of hundreds of unwashed hands, and the decor is dreamed up in Hell. Literally. It's demonic. So no, we didn't stay to eat. I tried to look past the awfulness of it... More

We found this little restaurant online from some other reviews we had seen. After eating a lot of pizza during our stay we wanted something traditional and this is exactly what it is. Set back though off the Main Street you would walk from the train station. Food was great value and tasted amazing and the staff, very friendly and... More

My wife and I were thrilled to discover this place tucked behind San Giovani Cristotomo on our recent trip to Venice. We had heard many horror stories from Italian and foreign friends alike about the food and prices in Venice so made it a mission not to have a bad gastronomic experience on our first night in Italy. Our first... More

We found this restaurant quite by chance and chose the Tourist Menu at 20 Euros. It really was delicious and great value. Would definitely recommend this little restaurant if you visit Venice.

Great experience dining at this osteria tucked away in an alleyway near the Rialto. Three of us had the fixed menu (20 Euros for a 3 course meal) and they were more than happy to make to order a pasta dish for the fourth diner. Great pasta! Simple fresh ingredients made our Spaghetti Pomodoro ( just tomato sauce no meat)... More

The pizza was freshly made and excellent - service was good - not a lot more to add as it was a quick lunchtime visit. Fairly popular.

Reading previous reviews about this restaurant me and my boyfriend decided to give it a try. We were looking for afordable place with good food and not too many tourists and coming here we were not dissapointed. We ordered primo - lasagna and gnocchi with meat sauce - and secondo - both beef fillet with bacon and potatoes - and... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
