Great find.

They say a photo speaks a thousand words. My Tortellini stuffed with sea bass and served with King Prawn & a prawn flambé cognac sauce was seriously good. One of the best fish dishes I've ever had the pleasure of being served anywhere!! Lovely staff and overall great dining experience. Definitely... read more

The meal was delicious. The service was good. When the bill arrived we had been charged for items we had not ordered. It is important to keep track of what you ate and drank; try to remember the Italian names for them. Great experience but check your bill!

Had a late dinner here and was not disappointed. There are dozens of tourists trap restaurants in Venice that have mediocre food for elevated prices, this Osteria is not one of them. The food was excellent and some of the best pasta we had on our trip. Prices were extremely reasonable around 10-12 euro per. Service was good as the... More

Me and my wife were the only guests. We both ordered tortellini with ricotta and spinache. My wife ordered water, I ordered a glass of white wine. About five minutes later the waiter brought me a glass of RED wine. 10-15 minutes later our "food" arrived. Sticky pieces of ravioli that stuck together in a grayish sauce that tasted slightly... What the heck?! This is one tragically demented place. How anyone could stay and eat here without having nightmares is beyond me. The menus have the sticky residue of hundreds of unwashed hands, and the decor is dreamed up in Hell. Literally. It's demonic. So no, we didn't stay to eat. I tried to look past the awfulness of it... More

We found this little restaurant online from some other reviews we had seen. After eating a lot of pizza during our stay we wanted something traditional and this is exactly what it is. Set back though off the Main Street you would walk from the train station. Food was great value and tasted amazing and the staff, very friendly and... More

My wife and I were thrilled to discover this place tucked behind San Giovani Cristotomo on our recent trip to Venice. We had heard many horror stories from Italian and foreign friends alike about the food and prices in Venice so made it a mission not to have a bad gastronomic experience on our first night in Italy. Our first... More

Ate here several times, good location, staff friendly and food delicious. We ate both inside and out and loved the atmosphere. The pasta was fresh and plentiful.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
