Worst food we had all week

I had put this place on my shortlist of places to visit after reading all the good reviews. It was packed when we walked past one evening to eat at a restaurant around the corner (Il Milion) so we thought it would be good. Oh I was wrong. Venice is full of overpriced restaurants and this is not one of them. I had pasta in cuttlefish ink which was excellent, followed by beef on a bed of potatoes which was perfectly done. My wife had seafood soup - we cook many versions of this at home - and we agreed that it was spot on. She then ate... More

We wandered into this Osteria without having read any reviews. Service was friendly and adequate The food was excellent, and plentiful. The main attraction, of course, was the pasta with cuttlefish Venetian style (in ink) -- Spaghetti Nero on then menu. It was excellent; not better than others in Venice, but just as good. I wouldn't walk an EXTRA mile... More

After reading the positive reviews here my wife and I gave it a try. The waiter was friendly and his English was very good (not expected or required in a foreign country). But the food, well that was where the issue arose. We both ordered pasta dishes, I had the €15 rigatoni quadro and my wife had the €12 tagliatelle... More

We dined here on our second night of a three night trip, hoping for some yummy, Italian pasta. We were not disappointed. I initially went for the salmon pasta, but the waiter recommended some fresh lobster they had in that day. It was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend had the squid ink pasta - I was too scared to try, but... More

We came across barababao by chance The restaurant as very quite which made for a lack of service, however we had the fish platter for two and it was superb. The staff were really friendly. Would recommend for food at an ok price.

Awesome service, waiter very attentive. Fish basket was out of this world! Due to allergies - staff went over and above to accomodate requests.

We were desperate to find a reasonably priced, non-touristy and authentic Italian restaurant in Venice. Once we realised that this was virtually impossible in the tourist Mecca that is Venice, we settled for this nice restaurant. We both tried the set menu and all three plates (one pasta, one fish and a tiramisu for dessert) were tasty and well-prepared, although... More

This was the first restaurant we went to in Venice and were so impressed, we came back literally the next day. This is a cute little place with great atmosphere, coupled with some very quirky art on the walls. The service was incredible as well. But the food, oh man! When we arrived, they were featuring a half lobster and... More

Our waiter Edourdo was wonderful. He shared that he is originally from Egypt and loves Italy. My wife ordered the whole sea bass and Edourdo expertly filleted it table side. The fish was like butter with a sauce that you could want to drink, or at least sop up with the bread ( we did!). I had a beef stew... More
