Nice for a quick meal

Friends had spotted this little trattoria in their walk the night before and we decided to try it out. It's a friendly little hide away with nice staff and a fairly unadventurous menu. My scaloppine with lemon was tasty although one of our group was very disappointed with her pasta marinara... read more

Stumbled across this place on our first evening in Venice and were very happy. Pizzas were a reasonable price and very good quality, both Aperol and Campari Spritz were lovely and started a week of drinking a Spritz with most lunch and dinners. Would reccommend for a chilled evening.

Unlike other restaurants we visited in Venice this one did not rush you out the door as quick as they can. The food was delicious and of a generous size.

There are so many restaurants in Venice that offer good food with a romantic atmosphere so it is difficult to choose one. Trattoria da Nino is one of those, and I am glad we choose this one. The food, atmosphere and setting was great while it still fit perfectly into our budget so I can highly recommend that you try... More

This is the second time we have had our last meal before flying home at this sweet little Trattoria. Very friendly staff and we were met with complimentary drinks as they remembered us from last year!! Selection of food from the a la carte menu is very good and they also have extremely and well-priced tourist menu's (always worth looking... More

We had lunch here on our first full day. The service was good, as was the food. Not a total stand-out, but a good option.

I absolutely love this place and will return to Venice to eat here again. Reading the reports it is clear that there is confusion over which restaurant people are reviewing. This is the Trattoria which is in a covered alleyway NOT on the Grand Canal. The Ristorante da Nino is on GC and clearly has the poorer reviews. The Trattoria... More

This place is a little gem tucked away down a side corridor off a well traveled street. There is a large menu with most of the usual selections of pizzas, pastas, and various meat dishes. The service was quite good and efficient and food was very tasty and at very reasonable prices for Venice. You'll find something you will like... More

We arrived at the restaurant on the evening of our 25th Wedding anniversary. After a drink we spoke to the waiter and informed him of our occasion. He immediately moved us to a bigger table, and all the staff came over and congratulated us. The food was excellent and the service was typical Italian. Everybody made such a fuss of... More

This is tucked down a narrow side road just off the busy St Mark's / San Zaccaria area. We had two huge plates of pasta for about 12 euro each, which was quite reasonable. It was also delicious. The waiters were friendly. We would visit again.

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
