Nothing special, just plain simple food

We only stopped at this place because all the other nearby restaurants were closing for the evening. The waiter was friendly and welcoming despite it being 23:00. The restaurants house red was a nice drop and the food filled the holes in our bellys.

After eating at a few gluten free restaurants over a 3 day stay in venice this has to be the best, wide range of pizza and pasta, great staff - very friendly and accommodating.

There were 4 of us and we all enjoyed our meals very much. We went for dinner and sat inside. The waiter was helpful and the meals were prepared well. The house wine was very enjoyable too. I would definitely go again!

My husband and sons ate here and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Staff were so warm and friendly which really made a positive impact on our trip to Venice. My sons and I are coeliacs and were delighted with gluten free options. The only negative comment that my family and I have is that it's closed on a Thursday. Can't recommend... More

I was dining on my own and I was made feel welcome. ( not a common occurrence when dinning on my own in touristy places) The waiters were polite and the service was fast but allowing the right amount of time between courses as not to feel rushed. The bruschetta was ok but the seafood spaghetti and the ricotta and... More

We were stopping around the corner from this place and had passes it many a time. After a few drinks we decided to try it . However we were bitterly disappointed with the food . It is very basic food and for the price we felt we had been ripped off . The service was pretty poor too . Avoid... More

Not too pricey, nice respite from the crowds. Recommended for lunch. It was nice being able to people-watch from their outside tables. There is also free WiFi, but we did not take advantage.

Set menu was lovely, my boyfriend had the fish and I had meat. Service was brilliant, waiter offered to match wines to each of our meals.

Unfortunately not a good experience. Our first course took 40 minutes to arrive after it became obvious that something was wrong because people who arrived after us were served their first course. Things then got worse when the fish of two of the main courses was inedible. Subsequently there was apologies from management and waiter and no charge for the... More

This place appeared to be the hidden gem by all the means: food, atmosphere and service. The last two was created by the best waiter we've ever met- Damiano! Nevermind that he forgot to bring us water and for the ashtray we had to ask twice :) Despite the fact that some of his jokes are repeated for every customer,... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
