Good local place to dine. Small family restaurant on the Zattere. More than one visit pays dividends, as you will be recognised. Good local specialties, particularly seafood

My wife and I have been travelling in Germany, Portugal and Italy for the last 2 months and we just had the worst meal of our entire trip at Trattoria San Basilio. The seafood antipasto was very poor quality and the pasta with a "creamy mushroom sauce" was soggy and tasted nothing like mushroom. House wine (white) was also cheap... More

Located at the San Basilio vaporetto stop, you can dine al fresco while overlooking the Giudecca canal and have a view of Palladio's Redentore (if a monstrously sized cruise ship is not anchored there) The view is lovely and relaxing. The menu is limited, but ingredients are fresh. I particularly like the spaghetti marinara or vongole, and the grilled branzino.... More

I forgot the first rule of Italy, "do as the romans do". I tried to avoid the smokers at the populated tavern next door, and ended up taking my girlfriend to this one instead. I order lasagna, and it came with some sort of fabricated cheese. My girlfriend didn't like her dish either. We let them know, but still just... More

This trattoria is right next to the San Basilio water taxi stop. It is at one end of the Zattere walkway onto the lagoon which at this point is an extremely exclusive real estate area and otherwise serves the upper middle-class Dorsoduro residential area. We stopped there initially for coffee as we were disembarking from the water taxi stop and... More

If you like sardines and onions, then the Venetian appetizer is for you. I thought it was full of flavor The pasta clam dish was fantastic Service was excellent and very personable A great people watching atmosphere as it's directly across from the water taxi station Not much of a wine selection here as they only serve Merlot and a... We stopped for drink before getting Vaporetto in S.Basilio and owners were so friendly and chatty that we went back to try some food. Delicious food. Good recommendations from owners. Local wine and pleasant atmosphere. After your meal ask for ice cream it comes as double coloured ball swimming in ice coffee. Delicious!!!

Wandering the laneways of Venice, we were searching for a trattoria that was reasonably priced and had a WiFi connection. I ordered lasagne while my partner had a sandwich, I found my meal a little ordinary, the sandwich was good though. The place was clean, service reasonable and coffee to the usual Italian standards. The toilet was not only clean... More

This was such a great place during my visit in Italy. The owner was such an amazing guy who made sure we were taken care of. The food was very good and the views are absolutely breathtaking. He took us to the back for some shots of grappa (I think that's how you say it?) This place was right around... More

We ate here on the first night of our stay....BIG MISTAKE! It started well enough....seafood starter was nice (just nice) but we found a HUGE hair in it. When the mains arrived my husband's squid was freezing and my cod was lukewarm and salty.......Not sure where people on here were eating to give it more than 2 stars!!!! Then the... More
