The best tuna in Venice

"Ai Carmini" has a wonderful cook - I would rate the tuna as the best I have ever tasted. He is great also on Venetian dishes such as polenta with cuttlefish.

We found this restaurant by wandering around aimlessly trying to find a restaurant with few tourists. Luckily we succeeded. We had the cuttlefish with linguine, and they had the foresight to give me a bib.

We saw this restaurant in the morning when wandering around the area. It was buzzing with locals and we decided to go back for dinner. There were few people there. The waiter was welcoming and gave us a menu. He then stood at the kitchen door talking to the chef and my husband had to tap him on the shoulder... More

Had a great supper here our last night in Venice. Small and a little hard to find but definitely worth it.

Close to where we stayed but also done a bit of studying. Fairly quiet setting, up a small side street. but definitely glad we found it. Really nice food at very reasonable prices. It's a small menu but we went twice and enjoyed each dish. Starters main and dessert. Drinks were reasonable and nice friendly helpful service made it a... More

The food and service were fantasatic! It made our 30th time visiting Venice all the more perfect. Traditional family owned and operated Osteria.

We wandered into ths Osteria yesterday evening, and were glad we did. It is very small- maybe 10 tables at most. The menu was not immense, yet it was well thought out, with something to please all tastes. I was not very hungry and just ordered vegetable soup, which was fresh and delicately flavored. My daughter's spaghetti with ragu' was... More

Popped into this place by chance (it's on a little side street), and so happy we did! The food was delicious, the table wine especially nice, the price low, and the owner extremely friendly. Full of Italians, a good sign! Would recommend to anyone, and will likely go again.

We enjoyed our meal so much on our first night that we went back again on our last night in Venice. The place is very small and you can tell mostly locals eat there. The food just seemed to be authentic and everything was delicious.

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
