Good Indian restaurant

We were a group of 4 adults and 2 kids and went to this restaurant for dinner daily during the course of our stay in Venice. It was the closest to our hotel and we enjoyed our short walk. Since we were on our way from Rome where we had mostly pizzas, which the kids insisted upon, this was a... read more

The curries were exceptionally bland--the chicken vindaloo had barely any spice at all, I wouldn't even call it mild by the standard I'm used to. Even the curries without any spice like the korma were tasteless. Tasted nothing like authentic Indian food, which we've eaten a lot of. My partner had the biryani and had food poisoning symptoms the next... More

Food was good (butter chicken with nan bread and shrimp baryani) .. Service was poor .. Difficult to speak with them .. I'm paid by visa and they told me it's not working, so they tried again and no charge happen and the Italian guy was showing me what is written on the card machine which is in Italian language... Our little travelling party of 4 has a tradition of trying out Indian restaurants in various European cities and towns. Our research showed Ganesh Ji to be the only option on Venice Island during our recent trip, so we gave it a go. Our hotel reserved a table, but this wasn't ready when we arrived on time. It was quickly... More

Very out of the way place, which was fun to get to. Sadly the interior is bare and not overly clean. Waiters were obviously not loving their work. Food was mediocre and our dishes arrived in oval stainless steel shallow bowls, 3 chunks of meat per bowl, swimming in quite boring sauce. Not authentic Indian at all. The naan was... More

My family and I have been travelling for last 2 weeks.. an Indian meal in Venice was the perfect break from Italian food.. We ordered Paneer Makhani, malai kofta and Dal Tadka.. with Masala kulcha. Very generous in quantity and amazing taste :) Loved every bit of it :) Highly recommended.. a little pricey.. bill was 64 euros for 4... More

The food was average. Please be careful of the back dining area. There is a small step to your left which leads to a glass door. It is very dangerous. Our friend fell, as it is not marked, and hurt his leg and hand. He is very lucky he did not go through the glass door.

During our 4 day stay in Venice we wanted something different from Italian food and looked for Indian. Actuell there are 3 in the Venice area but only one on the island. Far off the tourist paths in a silent corner of San Polo. Not elegant but still nice, one Indian waiter talking english. Food was absolutely phantastic. We tried... More

Excellent Indian food and service. In Venice for two weeks so nice cuisine option other than Italian. Nice terrace seating area on small canal. The restaurant is a little out of the way but worth the walk.

We were desperate for Indian food, and found this restaurant after meandering through the streets of Venice. Location is hidden, and very hard to find. We ordered food, and the food came quickly. Looked like food was prepared, not made fresh. Curries were just okay. The place was pricey.

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
