Nice Indian Food in Venice

We had been apprehensive on visiting Ganesh Ji as some of our close one's didn't have good reviews about the place but 1. Good Indian Food in the Main Venice Area 2. Pretty much accessible 3. There is a change in management & the new guys seems to be quite courteous enough 4. Seems like... read more

We went for a curry for a change and thought we had come across a gem, . the manager and waiter were very accomadating and helpful. but although starter was passable the main was the "blandest thing on the menu" and not half as tasty as the bill which was astronomical ,,,,dont go there

Ganeshji was in my to do list in Venice this time since I was impressed first time last February. So took my family on last Sunday evening for dinner. First of all the change in decor from what I have seen last year: Functional but not impressive. Lack of care felt the way it is designed. What happened to the... More

Please do not waste your money at this place. A friend and myself felt like having a change from Pizza and Pasta so thought lets give this restaurant a go. Being Indians who eat curry more or less everyday you could say we're hard to please and know what's good and what's bad. During ordering I told the waiter 3... More

With a 2.5yr old in tow we often rent apartments and have our dinner takeaway from a restaurant. The service was quick and helpful and the price is lower if you don't happen to stay. I had a really tasty Chana masala plus samosa and was quite happy. There is not much curry where we live in Switzerland so it... More

We needed an Indian meal to break the cycle of Italian food. Despite the average reviews we decided to give it a fair go. The decor was nice and our seats overlooked the canal. The quality of the meat in the dishes was very good, however the garlic naan bread, vegetables and sauces were uninspiring. The service was nice, but... More

Food is descent but location is very hard to find. Service is also quick and since it is the only Indian restaurant in Venice, you have to compromise with its higher than average meal rates.

Good place to have Indian food in the old city of Venice. The taste reminded me of some of the highway hotels in India where the food is spicy and tasty

Read the reviews and as English living in France we don't have a lot of opportunity to eat a curry, thought we would give it a go. It was OK. The food was very salty and the curries quite 'samey' but it was fine. The cover charge is written on the menu but free cover charge if you have the... More

We visited Ganeshiji on our first day in Venice, by the popular comments and ratings. It felt like home.Awesome food in the shudh desi style. Do try the garlic nans, really tasty. On the point of cover charges, once you visit Italy, you realize most of the places have this concept where they deduct this amount. Definelty a visit to... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
