Lovely little pit stop

We ducked in to Caffe del Doge for a quick lunch out of the autumn rain. We each had a sandwich and a galss of wine, consumed perched on stools at the bar. The food was tasty, inexpensive and the staff friendly. For a simple little lunch stop this cafe / bar was just what we needed and I wouldn't... read more

Venice is a city full of streets to explore, and there are tons of cafes and pizzerias everywhere. I stopped in at this place for a coffee. The place was full so there was no room to sit, so I got it to go. The service was fast, and the people were friendly enough, even though I did not speak... More

Not good on a cold January morning. This could have been acceptable to a point however when I came to pay I was charged... More

Lovely hot chocolate but €4! Also very crowded. Sat out of the way on a single table but was moved to a table near the till to enable more people to sit down. Felt a little herded around,

Cosy little café with a decent number seats and tables. Nice atmosphere and friendly service. The coffee and venetian biscuits were lovely, only thing that could be improved would be to have a larger selection of cakes. Will definitely be coming back.

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
