Great Food

We had dinner at this lovely little restaurant which is located off a canal. The food was very tasty and great value. Service was ok but the food made up for the functional member of staff! Would recommend.

We learned of this place via our traveller's guide. We were disappointed when we navigated our way there, as the restaurant looked shut at lunch time. On board a vaporetto the next day, we passed the restaurant and saw it was open and as we were determined to eat there, having been recommended, we jumped out and into the restaurant.... More

We had dinner there...spaghetti with squid ink and the filet of sea bass - food was freshly made but to oily and salty to our taste. Tiramisu was good, maybe even the best during our stay in Venice. Friendly waitress, nice location by the canal. Maybe a bit pricy compared to similar places in this area.

It was nice to have a quiet meal by the canal and it was recommended by the owner of our hotel. The dinner was great but it took so long for our meals to arrive. We arrived 5 minutes to 9:00pm and didn't get to eat until 9:45pm. No one else was having dinner and I find that unacceptable. Also,... More

Our hostess at Hotel Hesperia suggested this restaurant, and we are so pleased she did. We enjoyed our meal so much the first night that this was the only place we ate dinner in Venice. The food was fantastic, so fresh & so delicious. The house wine as well as the prosecco, added to our enjoyment. The zabaglione is served... More

Just had dinner there. The little restaurant is located a little off the usual main street but pretty near to the water bus stop. The prices are not the cheapest but the food is not bad. I had the venetian appetiser of the cod fish and the spaghetti with squid ink. Not exactly my first choice of pasta but my... More

We have been to this restaurant regularly for the last 15 years and have never been disappointed. They do not shout their presence and only is noticeable when they put out the tables. Good honest cooking, fresh fish and friendly waitress. Would recommend

Great food from a limited menu at a reasonable price in a lovely setting. Enjoyed Monkfish and prawn mains straight from the sea. Will be returning next time. Thank you.

We had dinner at this cozy restaurant and enjoyed it very much. The waitress was very nice and the food was simple but delicious. We had a small salad to start and followed with a delicious monkfish and porkchops. The wine list was basic but we had a very pleasant white wine. The Price was very reasonable and we left... More

We had a wonderful meal here this week with the squid, prawns and gnocchi of an especially high standard. This is a really nice unpretentious little restaurant and I would recommend it thoroughly. I didn't think much of the wine list which was very short, local and cheap. If I was going again - and I wish I was -... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
