Delicious food

Gorgeous food, fantastic staff and amazing views across the canal. Very easy to find. Extensive wine list with a good variance of prices. The food is pricey but worth every euro!

Riviera was the best restaurant we went to in Venice (and we have been to quite a view restaurants and osterias). One of our starters was a signature dish of fish carpaccio (or sashimi in Japanese), a wounderful combination of tastes. Our seconds where a very nich fish dish (sorry, forgot which fish) and a superb lamb dish (see photos... More

Small and a bit similar to most other places in town, with some 10-12 tables by the water, facing Giuddeca, Riviera is actually a true gem, where a simple meal becomes Michelin-star restaurant experience. Delicious starters with a special mention to a sashimi style special of eight fishes, all marinated different way; pasta to die for with my only regret... More

We booked for lunch in advance and got lucky with the weather, so sat outside by the canal, enjoying the weather, the view, the service, the wine and the food - what's not to like - well, nothing actually - we shared a special for our main - the Sea Bass, which was plated for us so we didn't have... A delicious house cocktail by the waterfront, a sunny evening, immaculately dressed staff and fresh fish.... The staff could have been a little less prescriptive - felt they were saying the same to us all and moving on to the next table but they were polite and the service was good. The food is quite filling unless you have a... More

Booked this for our wedding anniversary last year, the food was absolutely superb, the owner very friendly and the staff on the ball. Not cheap but well worth the money.

Despite our late arrival for dinner without reservation we got a good table. Service was impeccable from arrival to departure. Professional waiting staff and an owner who greets you and keeps a close eye on the proceedings. The food was excellent. The best I ever had in Venice. The wine list was extensive and well priced. The recommended wine was... More

I wanted somewhere special to take my wife for her birthday. Venice is a magical place, but most of the restaurants there trade off the magic. So how refreshing to find a place that really cares about food and can compete with restaurants all over the globe. Couple this with a magical setting on Zattere and you have the perfect... More

My wife and I visited Venice over Easter to celebrate her birthday. I communicated with this restaurant by email and I was delighted to get quick and helpful responses. From the moment we walked in off the promenade on a wet Saturday evening we were greeted with a friendly smile and a warm welcome. We were very quickly made to... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
