Nice seafood restaurant away from the crowd

Tiny little place recommended by our hotel. Seafood is good, but what we loved most are the pasta dish. We ordered spaghetti vongole, carbonara, seafood, squid ink with mushrooom (really good)... Mixed Seafood grill is good but not best-a few king of fish fillet ... A bit pricy but overall we liked... read more

Without getting "too lost" and just the right amount of steps away from the most turistic places (beside the Gran Canal and St. Mark Square) you will find this cozy spot with very good food and amazing service. The food is simple and flavory without being heavy. A mix between home-made and luxurious cusine. Definetely a recommendation if you are... More

Everything is generally overpriced compared to restaurants outside. We ordered the oysters which weren't on the menu and were charged for €7 each! What!? We had better and more fresh ones in other restaurant nearby last night that were only €3 each. Additionally, 15% service fee is charged. Ridiculously rip-off! Never recommended!

Whilst wandering through Venice we met some Italians who recommended this restaurant for the following evening - they were having live music and we were told it was great food and a great atmosphere - well it didn't disappoint ! We had pasta, lasagne and wine..followed by some fantastic tiramisu !! The steaks and fish looked fab - next time... More

Good food but overpriced. Tack on the service charge and that makes it worse. We found food as good for less money elsewhere

We ate at this restaurant on October 23, 2015. The restaurant is located in a busy Venice area, but on a small alley away from the bustling crowd. The owner greeted us, acknowledged our reservation and promptly seated us. Like many Venice restaurants, the menu is seafood heavy. We ordered a fried squid appetizer which was lightly battered and served... More

We asked our B&B in Venice for a good typical Venice restaurant, not the touristic stuff. They made a reservation (necessary) for us. They also showed us on the map how to get there. It really is off the beaten track, altough the grande canal is very close! And when you get there, no touristic crowd! The staff was very... More

Nice little place tucked away in a small side street, a little off the beaten track. Al Paradiso offers set 3 course menus for under EUR 20 but we went "a la carte ". Good food at a very reasonable price in often expensive Venice. The restaurant has a somewhat " Petit Parisienne " feel to it with a touch... More

Efficient staff but a bit aloof, nice decor, food is well presented but portions are very small and expensive. I had sea bream. Got half of one side of the fish and a sliced potato €24. My wife had swordfish which was about 6mm thick. All in all not good value.

Excellent, family run restaurant. Very small so reservations are mandatory. Reasonable prices and very good food.

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
