Meh!!!

Some dishes were nice but overall pretty average food. The Bresola and the Risotto was pretty decent and so was the gnocchi.

Smart and inventive formulas of Italian cuisine in a very quiet and picturesque corner of San Marco quarter, next door from Palazzo Marcello, where Joseph Brodsky used to stay during his Venice trips

The food is bed and the indoor is half empty and Depressing. Not expensive but The food is not good to say the least. The Mozzoraella was at the supermarket level the tomatoes were of the wrong kind and pasta was of a bitter souse yet the rest of the food was to avoid. The service was kind and understanding... My wife and i visited this restaurant during our 5th anniversary trip actually back in 2012. But I could not remember the name until I found a picture I took of the restaurant. But better late than never. Food: 9 out of 10 Service: 10 very friendly and attentive. Owner brought us stuff we did not order just because. I... More

Recommended by the owner of our apartment. Not a huge menu which looked like it changed frequently. Friendly waiter who understood our attempt to speak Italian, but spoke English! Mozzarella & tom starter simple but divine, huge prosciutto & melon plate. Bifsteak perfect, meatballs tasty. Tasty dessert. Decent winelist

We arranged a prepaid meal at this place, although we did get a change of night, we felt the the meal itself was very average. The service was just ok. We asked 3 times for drinks at on stage, and finally got what we wanted. Worst meal we had in Italy.. Sorry, they need to lift their game...

We had simple pasta dishes - two recommended by the waiter. One inedible the other woefully uninspired. The wine smelled of vinegar. The bread, despite a variety of colors, lacked any taste or texture.

If only we had known what a disappointment this was going to be. Our guide book advised it as fresh local produce with a local clientele. We entered and were rushed to a table and a menu arrived about 5minutes later. There was no atmosphere and no locals. The manager finally approached us and gave us the menu and when... More

I took my friends there for dinner 3 days ago as I had enjoyed eating there with my sister some years previously. The staff were very friendly at first. However, we soon discovered that the pasta was pre-cooked and had been left standing so it was sticky and luke warm and everything was just disappointing. When we queried the cover... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
