A very average meal

We arranged a prepaid meal at this place, although we did get a change of night, we felt the the meal itself was very average. The service was just ok. We asked 3 times for drinks at on stage, and finally got what we wanted. Worst meal we had in Italy.. Sorry, they need to lift their game...

I viusoited this resturant several years ago and was bolwn away by the excellent food and service. I subsequently recommended to several friends and they had an equally satisfing experience. I return again this year and was not disappointed. Menu a little trickey to nagagate but there is plenty of staff to help you aling. I went for their signiture... More

We had simple pasta dishes - two recommended by the waiter. One inedible the other woefully uninspired. The wine smelled of vinegar. The bread, despite a variety of colors, lacked any taste or texture.

If only we had known what a disappointment this was going to be. Our guide book advised it as fresh local produce with a local clientele. We entered and were rushed to a table and a menu arrived about 5minutes later. There was no atmosphere and no locals. The manager finally approached us and gave us the menu and when... More

I took my friends there for dinner 3 days ago as I had enjoyed eating there with my sister some years previously. The staff were very friendly at first. However, we soon discovered that the pasta was pre-cooked and had been left standing so it was sticky and luke warm and everything was just disappointing. When we queried the cover... More

They had a fish night when we were there. The food was exellent and we had a lot of fun with the owner. When you are in Venice its a place to go for Dinner. But it's worth to make a reservation.

Our lettings agent recommended this restaurant as excellent with local fresh food & a daily menu change to reflect freshness & availability of the produce. Used also by the locals & said to be so popular that we should book. Unable to book, we arrived at 7.30 & were immediately marched to a table where the female owner threw the... More

When you arrive at the restaurant and it's filled with men wearing striped shirts (gondoliers not convicts) you know you're eating with the locals. The spaghetti with black cabbage was great and so were the ricotta and spinach filled agnoletti. The cold cuts were also excellent. Whatever you do, don't come here expecting pizza and spaghetti pomodoro though I'm sure... More

After reading through the reviews on here about the excellent food & 'Venetian' experience and the need to book in advance to get a table, we sought out this restaurant and happily managed to get a table relatively quickly. The menu was in italian and is supposedly changed everyday. However, whilst waiting for our food, we observed other dishes coming... More

We should have checked and then we'd have realised that Saturday is fish night. Oops! Jonathon is allergic to fish but the was looked after very well and served some delicious veggie pasta while I enjoyed lovely sea bass. Very busy so you need to book.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
