A rip-off

Food and service were OK, but price was way too high. A small bottle of average wine (375ml) is 15 Euros. The bread, though served without been asked for was added to the bill. The tip ("service charge") is 12% and was included automatically to the bill.

Very nice terrace for lunch. Very tasty pizzas in the average price (10€). We were hungry and this one worked well.

Confused by the fact TA suggests this is a Chinese restaurant? Definitely Italian - food was good at an average cost compared with others

Besides beeing expensive they show decals of Visa and Amex on their Windows but when you try to pay with a card they tell you a long story that the card reader is working wrong and you have to pay with cash. The waiters are not gentle. A bottle of wáter is 15 E and they also charge a fee... More

We did not have the same experience as the other reviews mentioned. Service was fine. My experience in larger cities is you're not going to get a warm and fuzzy waiter. However we thought he did fine job. We had the dried meat appetizer which all enjoyed. I had the pasta alla Carbonara for lunch which was very good. Son... More

We came across this place while wandering around Venice. The setting is nice and it is quite appealing from the front and we were hungry. The first problem is the rude waiters! To be honest we found most waiters in Venice to be rather rude...but this lot took the cake. Couldn't get the order quick enough and then completely ignored... More

I wouldn't go here for dinner but if you're looking for a reasonable cheap lunch then this will fit the bill. My wife had the seafood pizza, which I also tried. It was tasty, a wee bit salty, and a good size. My lasagne was not as good as what I can make myself at home but if you're busy... More

We came to this place in our first night in Venice, because it was recommended by some trip magazine and our hotel was quite close. Of course the brand has nothing to do with the Dutch or with Richard Wagner, it is very much an Italian or rather a Veneto restaurant. The restaurant is situated in a quite large square... More

Not much to say except that you should avoid it like the pest! Absolutely disgusting meal and rude waiter!

A day of heavy rain in late July. Storm, then persistent showers. We had planned on a number of options through trip advisor, but the rain stymied that and we plumped for what looked like from the outside a suitable restaurant. Wrong. Not enticing menu, uninspiring waiter. Nothing much else to say, best to move on and look forward to... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
