Good Lunch Stop

The food here is not as good as it was several years ago but this traditional venetian osteria is a solid place to stop for lunch among visits to the Frari or San Rocco. The patatine fritte (french fries) are a really good side dish (contorni), some of the best I've ever had! The mussels and... read more

I was looking for a restaurant not so crowded around 9 pm and found this restaurant. I ordered pasta with ink and desert with water and glass of wine. I tried ink pasta for the first time in Venice and it was delicious. The total cost was only 25.5 euro.

The wife and I wanted to have drinks and the out-of-the-way alley was the perfect get away from the hustle and bustle of Venice. We asked for a bottle of Rose, which was delightful, but we decided not to eat off of the menu. We instead asked for a small snack of fromaggio and prosciutto. We were given extremely fresh... More

Came across it on stroll round and called in for an early dinner. Very nice inside but due to narrow street lacks outdoor space. Personal service was very good. Unlikely to get crowded due to out-of-the-way location. Menu is original, not the bog standard fare served up at most places. Food was excellent. Started with a bowl of Mussels &... More

We popped in for lunch after visiting the Scuola San Rocco. The pastas were actually quite good, while my grilled monkfish was dry and over cooked. The service was friendly and attentive.

It was lunchtime and we were walking through this narrow street on the way to one of Venice's famous sites. A local man was soliciting custom for the restaurant, saying 'no cover charge' and other inducements that I can't recall. The place was spacious but empty, but it looked clean and attractive. All we wanted was a bowl of soup,... More

Accidentally we found this restaurant after a long journey from Rome~ the Peperoni pizza has a really fancy smell with a thin layer~ the grilled vegetable is quite tasty. And we were both addicted to the spicy powder served by them. All in all, they offered nice house wine with 3 euros per glass with a nice taste. Highly recommended!... More

Stopped off here on our way back to the apartment, there was an offer on at the time with most drinks for 1 euro! Great value for the centre of Venice!!

There are many good restaurants in Venice. This one is a really bad choice. Please read the rating of the other guests before eating here!!!

We found this restaurant by accident and got chatting to the owner.. on one of our afternoon walks.. we even managed to find our way back! Great value and great food. We had the tourist menu at 11 Euros a couple of beer and 1lt of house wine and some water. We both had spaghetti to start with and then... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
