good if you like pasta

A word to the wise after the event: if a menu reads like an encyclopedia with hundreds of dishes on display, its going to be bad. But with a hungry child, who wanted just a simple pasta dish, there was little choice but to take the plunge. To be fair, the pasta was good, but if you cant get that... read more

It was lunchtime and we were walking through this narrow street on the way to one of Venice's famous sites. A local man was soliciting custom for the restaurant, saying 'no cover charge' and other inducements that I can't recall. The place was spacious but empty, but it looked clean and attractive. All we wanted was a bowl of soup,... More

Accidentally we found this restaurant after a long journey from Rome~ the Peperoni pizza has a really fancy smell with a thin layer~ the grilled vegetable is quite tasty. And we were both addicted to the spicy powder served by them. All in all, they offered nice house wine with 3 euros per glass with a nice taste. Highly recommended!... More

Stopped off here on our way back to the apartment, there was an offer on at the time with most drinks for 1 euro! Great value for the centre of Venice!!

There are many good restaurants in Venice. This one is a really bad choice. Please read the rating of the other guests before eating here!!!

We found this restaurant by accident and got chatting to the owner.. on one of our afternoon walks.. we even managed to find our way back! Great value and great food. We had the tourist menu at 11 Euros a couple of beer and 1lt of house wine and some water. We both had spaghetti to start with and then... More

I didn't try a full meal, my mother and I had a break from a day's walking in Venice. She had the vegetable soup and I had the pasta e fagioli. Both were absolutely delicious and we both agreed that they were some of the best soups we've ever had. So, for the soup, TOP MARKS. I'd go back for... More

Visited today as it looked nice from outside. Menu of day looked ok at 15 euro. We both chose lasagne starter but it was stone cold in middle and when we pointed it out the man took it away an brought it back microwaved with no apology. I ordered for main course escalope in white wine and cream sauce with... More

First if all,I'd like to point out that in general Venice is a magic city but not really for the food...It's very difficult to find places where to eat well at a reasonable prices, the restaurants take too much advantage of being in a very touristic place. But as a couple if Italians from Liguria (so we're quite strict on the quality... We were very disapponted about the seafood quality in general but when i had "frittura mista alla veneziana" i noticed that wasn't fresh at all with a bad taste of mold ("muffa" in italian) . I can recognize a good quality seafood , i'm from Genova in Italy. After the meal i was a bit sick and fortunately i left... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
