Da bomb

Best meal in town. Fresh innovative and interesting preparations in a quiet part of town. Sample this fab cuisine canal-side outdoors or in the cozy interior. Excellent service to top it all off. Can't recommend this place highly enough. Reservations recommended. Can't wait to go back!

Two of us had a delightful dinner here. We were seated in a quiet corner, but asked to be moved to another table with a view of the canal; we were accommodated very graciously. All the staff here were young, very welcoming and hip. This feels like a family restaurant but also very trendy. This ain't a spaghetti and meatballs... More

We had lunch twice in Anice Stellato while visited Venice in June 2015. Both times the food was suberb - best we had during our visit. All of us loved the food. We recommend Anice Stellato for anyone appreciating good food, prepared with thought and served in a great atmosphere by peaceful canal.

I found this restaurant mentioned in a newspaper article and liked the sound of it because it was billed as a haunt for Venice locals as much as for tourists. It didn't disappoint

We had a light lunch here - sharing a couple of starters and a salad ..... and a bottle of wine. Lovely to be sitting outside next to a canal in the sun. Food was delicious.

Beautiful, delicious food in a lovely setting. The staff were very helpful and informative about the food and which wine to choose. I do agree that you lose some of the buzz being in the back room, but we should’ve booked. It did fill up quickly and was great. We did pause briefly from eating when the chef came out... More

It was one of the best meals of my life! Delicious, fresh, modern, yet filling, with great service and advice on wine :) Also when i was having doubts they accommodated me with two side dishes :)

We waited an hour for our meal - almost walked out but we were told the food was good so we hung on. Yes the food was good but the service failed us.

It was nice to go far away from the crowds. It was also nice to finally see a restaurant where locals serve you.... The staff is very very nice. They deserve 5 stars. But my experience was not perfect. My wife's pasta was over salty and it could not be eaten. The fried fish was okish. A mistake was made... More

We had lunch here on Sunday the 10 May. It's away from the main touristy areas which we liked! The service was outstanding, all the staff was very friendly and explained the menu in great details, recommended the wines according to the meals. They even bought out a little cake with a candle as it was my husband's birthday! That... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
