Great food and service for good prices

We ended up there by chance after having looked for a place which served reasonably priced local cuisine. That was exactly what we wanted, a no fuss osteria with very good food and very good service. Very good food, good drinks and good service, so much that we repeated a second night, If you visit Venice it is definitely a place to go.

Popped in for Lunch, and this place was lovely. We had some crostini's and a glass of wine. It's very cheap and out of the way from the endless sea of tourists. Staff were really friendly.

Ciccheti in the late afternoon, and then delicious, fresh, and moderately priced seafood dishes, including Venetian specialties like seppie in ink with polenta, sardines in saor, and tagliatelle with ink. Delicious, and very friendly...the owner explained the entire chalkboard menu to us, and seated us before a seating! Some of the very best food I ever ate in Venice.

My European friend who spend years in Venice took us to this charming place. Yes, we had a great time, friendly staffs and tasty meals in big portion. The seafood pasta was great, I have been in Italy over 10 times, and I can say that seafood spaghetti was the best of best.

Tiny place with a small handful of tables and a cicchetti bar up front full of locals enjoying happy hour. Reservations are crucial! Seafood pasta and mixed fried seafood were both delicious with perfect texture. Solid house Pinot Grigio. Service was friendly but inattentive - they seemed understaffed. Would definitely recommend, but pack your patience.

Recommended by the local Venetian mask maker. The place was buzzing with locals and tourists and food excellent. It was a challenge to find it totally worth it.

Local hole in the wall bar/restaurant with good type Cicchetti type food. We had a range of small dishes from octopus to cod to artichoke. The food was fresh and local. To some extent best of all was the ambiance and surroundings. Don't expect a fancy restaurant. They do have a few tables which also serve real meals - but... More

We got there right about 6:00, it wasn't crowded yet. We walked in an waited a minute or two before the Bartender asked us what we wanted (naturally in Italian) . Not knowing the protocol we stalled and she moved on. There are tables to the left of the bar, you can still order the are appetizers but you need... More

Somehow loads of people seem to find there way to this very popular bar which creates a brilliant atmosphere. You will generally find someone to talk to otherwise just enjoy the ambience. Very reasonable wine prices and Italian tapas worth a try.

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
