One of the most ancient Venetian osterie, the Cantina Do Spade is only a few steps away from the Rialto Bridge. This bacaro offers a variety of cicheti: small typically Venetian snacks like fried squid rings, meatballs, mozzarelle in carrozza, baccala mantecato etc. Here our friendly staff and atmosphere will make you feel at home, but with the opportunity to taste fine and fresh food.

This small restaurant is lots of fun, and the cichetti are fantastic. Are real pleasure to spend the evening here.

The fact the Do Spade is hard to find.. I came upon it unexpectedly.. Hope you can find it because it is a special treasure in Venice. The wines are some of the best and these are real Venetian plates.. The owner is so full of hospitality.. the place is a jewel.. The food is especially delicious! Go!

We found this place while wandering from St Marco Square, place was very busy so we decided to get a bite. Sea food and spicy meat balls + wine. Delicious we are going there for dinner tonight. Very good price too, will recommend. A little gem.

A walking tour guide recommended Do Spade. It is situated in side streets just of Rialto Market along with a couple of other tapas style bars. They serve a good selection of delicious cicchetti at the front bar which you can have with a nice glass of wine. They also have a restaurant area which is lovely. We had dinner... More

We enjoyed the variety of the very fresh cichiete; crumbed fish, stuffed squid, artichokes, vegetable antipasto and olive meatballs. Great wine, friendly service and cosy, lively atmosphere. Recommended.

We really enjoyed this place on our Ciccihetti & Wine Tour because it was one of few where we could actually sit down. The wine was good, & the various cicchetti we tasted were flavoursome & moreish. We would definitely come here again & spend more time trying all of the cicchetti & working our way through the wine list.... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
