Great booster before a detox

High recommend this restaurant before going for a week detox at the Palace Hotel. Typical italian atmosphere with a friendly chef. Let him choose the local wine, you will not be disappointed. The Omega 3 starter is a MUST ... delicious and very original.

The food is OK, but the service and the overall "gastronomy temple" atmosphere was annoying. Each "stuzzichino" from the kitchen arrives with detailed instructions. For example, the "essence of pizza", in a glass, must be savored by first dipping the mozzarella bit into it, then drunk, we were told: but what if I want, for example, pour it on a... More

Yes, returning almost one year after I can confirm that Andrea Fenoglio has that magic that makes it worth a trip. We had some loved classics, such as the wondrous lamb and the 'molto maltagliati' which gave much pleasure, and (what were for us) some novelties, such as a 'porchetta' and a vittel tonne', which was deconstructed and had some... This is a very well known and highly recommended restaurant in Merano but I went during the wine festival in November and my friends said that it was not the same. The food was quite good and tasty but you could tell that the staff was stressed and starting to buckle under the strain of the crowd from the wine... More

We went to Sissi in the spring of 2009 and thought it was really really good in all aspects. We went there during the weekend of Merano Wine Fest and had a totally different experience. The service was cold and almost rude. The food was good but not great and I don't know if I will be going back again.

One of those rare combinations where you can get both traditional dishes (e.g. the "molto maltagliati" pasta, the "passatelli in brodo") alongside quirky and innovative ones (the smoked mackerel with apples, the "egg in the egg", the fake egg yolk which is in fact peppers with bagnacauda filling) - of course, the proof is in the pudding, and boy these... I fell compelled to write a review. We followed the high ratings on tripadvisor and were very disappointed. No joy in the meal, very strange choice of ingredients and their combinations. It looked like the chef tried to create something extraordinary but none of the recipes actually came out well. I don't think this places deserves the high marks it... More

I had two dinners here on consecutive days, the last two of my vacation, and I wish I had discovered this place earlier... There is something about Sissi that makes it stand out from your ordinary Michelin starred experience. Some dishes privilege effect and surprise (e.g. the pepper that looks like an egg yolk and 'explodes' in your mouth), some... More

Went here for Valentine's Day with another couple and the food, the service and the wine were top rate. The dishes are quite clever and, more importantly, delicious. Mr. Fenoglio actually wanders around the room, trading quips with his diners and explaining dishes, which was a nice touch as well.

We are from London and eat in many top rated restaurants and this is right up there. We visited last night and both the welcome and service were warm and faultless. The food was superbly executed, unusual and very well worth the one Michelin star. In addition the ambience and feel was perfect - warm, spacious and comfortable with the... More
