2013 and again in 2015. No change. Still excellent food, value for money, service and ambience. Real Italy. Amazing and what a proper Italian evening should be! Phew. Still full a week later 😁😁 bravo il Cucchiaio do Legno. Five stars .... Six if they were available

Agreable site “agritourism” style with restaurant and rest rooms. Meals are typical of the place and region (Piedmont). Prevail: meat, sausages, pickles, pasta , rice, soft cheese- dresses, cakes. Everything is home-cooked. Cheap prices. Bring to notice that the site is very close to railway, Not far from Orta railway station. On the contrary, the site is about half an hour,... More

A cucchiaio is a big spoon, and it's a good metaphor for this very homey restaurant where everyone gets the same meal, at the same time, the courses flowing out of the kitchen smoothly and in amazing numbers. Be warned: the quantity of food that will arrive on your table is more than a normal person can eat, so pace... More

This restaurant was advised by friends and was one of the best for our vacation. The food is typical italian and the ingredients fresh/ biological. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want a diner in a real italian setting + food.

If you like to eat with the local Piedmonte people and not with the other tourists - go to "Il Cucchiaio di Legno" nir Lago Orta. It serves fixed menue consists of local different kinds of Anti-pasta, Pasti and rissoto and meats (chicken and lamb in the oven). The prices are fair (25 Euros per person) and you can enjoy... We visited for a Sunday evening dinner. We enjoyed a family-style meal of: pork salami with fezzetto & cantaloupe melon, salmon cured in cognac with tomatoes on toast, risotto with local mushrooms, pasta ragù bolognese, the main house, lambs' ear salad, chicken with pancetta, beef carpaccio with celery, and hazelnuts & almonds in merengue all with little cookies with raspberry... We had dinner twice at the restaurant when staying at the nearby hotel. Once was the half board option, 3 courses for €20 and once the 6 course dinner option at €26. Both meals were truly excellent, friendly and helpful service and brilliant value local wines from €12. Most of the food is local, organic but most of all delicious.... More

Took a taxi from Orta San Guilo as had heard restaurant was not to be missed. Restaurant has a weekly changing set menu & just as well we booked as it was full mostly with local Italians. Ludovicha, our English speaking waitress really took care of us explaining each course as it arrived. There were several antipasti appetizers including locally... More

The staff are very helpful and explain the provenance of the menu. The experience was well worth the 25euro price.
