We stumbled into the restaurant on our first evening in Orta and chose it for its enclosed but open setting on the lake. We hesitated as it's right on the piazza and one is always a bit hesitant about establishments on the tourist trail. We should have followed our instinct. The service was fine, but the food was really average... More

We tried Leon D'Oro on a Saturday night (August 9th) and enjoyed it so much that decided to pay another visit on the following Saturday. We had gluten free requirements that were catered extremely well Tagliatelle al Tartufo Nero stands out, and the lamb also was special. The service is ok, the owners could be a little bit more welcoming,... More

Our family had one of the best meals of our 6 week European trip here on the patio overlooking the island that pays homage to St Francis. We had the chef's tasting menu (two had the carne menu and one had the peace). Fabulous from start to finish. Our gluten free child was treated very well and had a wonderful... More

We picked this restaurant for lunch as a thunderstorm was threatening and you could sit under their amazing vine, dry, looking at the splendid view unobstructed but other restaurants. They had a selection of fixed menus but we chose the fritto misto di pesce and vedure, which was perfectly cooked, without too much batter that so often ruins these dishes.... More

Great views, but through a dirty screen. Nice food but now I can't actually remember what we ate which says a lot! I do remember the bread was very good. Waiters were excellent but the women who owned the restaurant were quite grumpy and a little rude. We felt like we were inconveniencing them by being there and when we... More

This restaurant offers panoramic views of the lake as you are literally sitting over the water. The food is beautiful and reasonably priced with gorgeous local wines. The service is rapid and efficient. Try the lobster linguini... You won't regret it!

Ate three nights running, best place in town without doubt. Varied menu and extensive wine list. A food & wine buffs delight. Slightly pricier but worth the extra. If you want veg and potatoes you need to ask and they will oblige. Fast service but we were there early season. Very friendly and multilingual. Fantastic view of the island. Highly... More

We visit Orta san Giulio often and have walked past this restaurant and hotel many times. The restaurant is set on the lakeside with wonderful views and comfortable decor. We were met by a friendly Maitre'd who was attentive and helpful. We enjoyed a plate of roasted vegetables with warm cheese to start, followed by cheese and tomato risotto which... More

We stay at the hotel and ate several lunches and dinners here. The food was very good as was the service. The prices were very reasonable and the view from the terrace tables was spectacular.
