Unhelpful disinterested staff and no English spoken. Food ok.

The wine list contains a ridiculously vast number of different wines to chose from and all being rather pricey. A 75 cl. bottle of Moretti beer was 15 euros. The main problem however was the attitude of the staff none of whom could speak even a few words of English. Sorry but can't recommend this... read more

Took ages to be seated even though restaurant was practically empty at lunch time. Wife ordered the 'meat ravioli', she was brought fish ravioli. We complained, they told us that 'ravioli' is the fish dish and showed us on the menu. I pointed at their English translation which clearly stated 'meat ravioli' as a separate item and the waiter walked... More

Service was poor, As Italian regular guest were deeply welcomed and their order was taken quickly, we had to ask three time to get ours taken! The waiter was rude, never a nice word, didn't ask if we wanted something to drink. he had a temper tantrum at some point as his helper was not doing the job... The food... More

Ate there tonight. the place is run by several octogenarians who simply do not engage with customers - there is a look and attitude of 'money has arrived', not customers. The down points: - they forgot our children's drinks and the water ordered. Got the kids drinks eventually but skipped the water - was still billed for it. - they... More

This place should be reported to higher authorities - the way the owners treated the staff was unbelievable and undiscerning. If you like a meal with yelling in the background, then this is a good place. We witnessed one of the owners yell at a staff that accidentally broke a glass. This was a yell of harassment and strength calling... More

A lovely traditional restaurant with beautiful views of the lake. The manageress/ owner? was an older lady who was friendly and patient with our complete inability to speak any Italian! My husband had snails which were fantastic, I had zucchini and prawn soup which was nice (but not amazing). The pasta with lobster was delicious and the mixed grilled seafood... More

Nice setting direct on the lake , the 2 older ladies run the show , keep control , service was a little bit " to fast " , I asked for " piano " after the primi piatta , good risotto , all in all a restaurant with a history and a future as a classical Italian ...

My husband and I live about 30 mins away from Lago d'Orta. We love treating ourselves to the Ristorante Leon D'Oro on a Saturday afternoon for a great lunch and views of the lake.

My wife loves osso buco more than anyone I know. She was in dreamland during her entire meal -- as I was with the lamb chops on top of the finest slice of fried zucchini I have ever tasted. And this was lunch! Family pride and an excellent chef who visited our table are the clear marks of excellence that... More

The food was very good, a busy restaurant even in November, good home cooking, 35euros ahead plus wine. Lunchtime.
