Great small family run restaurant in the heart of Asti

Having been to Tabacanda over 10 times now, I still feel the urge to go again! Great for their lunch special at only 11 Euro's, the night menu is also not to be missed. A great wine list compliments the local typical Piedmont food. If you are up to it, try the horse cheeks (guanchotti di cavallo... read more

We just had a fantastic lunch at this Osteria, tucked away in a quiet street just out of the way of cars and shoppers. The food was superb. The wine list extensive. The service good. The host cared. The price was reasonable. And to top it all off this Osteria employs staff with intellectual and physical disabilities (download). It is... More

Delicious, creative food attentively served by special needs waiters. We especially loved pasta with white truffle ice cream, codfish w kale and hazelnut pannacotta. Delighted with local wines but even more with the social impact of this ethical enterprise!

The employees are special individuals. It's a great initiative that the owner demonstrates with this concept. The food was great specially the starter pepperoni with cream cheese and chestnut mushroom soup. Good value for money.

Tagliatelle w meat sauce, fresh pasta w truffles, codfish soup all fresh and tasty. Deserts included tiramisu, cake baked into an apple, panacotta and various semiffredo variations (ice cream) all fresh and fabulous. Open Sunday! Servers included attentive well-trained "special needs" personnel. Asti as an aperitif of course!!

Hidden in a lateral alley but in the hearth of the town, this restaurant is one of the best I have ever been! Environment The restaurant is in a renovated basement, so the number of seats available is limited. The reservation is strongly suggested, but the ceiling with vaults and old bricks is very nice and suggestive Service: Rapid and... More

Situated in one of the most interesting Asti area, near Teatro Alfieri, San Secondo Basilica, Il Punto bookshop, Tacabanda, is a very cosy place where to have a quick lunch or an elegant dinner. At the end of a stair, there is a barrel vaulted room, with brickworks and basement windows wells, often there are art exhibitions. Cooking is light,... More

... not only the food is very very good with a wide selection of local specialties, not only it is a very cute place with great atmosphere, but also is a very nice way to help other people. The chef who is the owner too, will most likely be happy to explain the whole project and talk about the great... More

I was here the other day for lunch with my boyfriend and my parents. My boyfriend asked some cops where was a good place to eat traditional food in Asti and they told us this place. Well we were very very happy with our lunch. We ordered two appetizers, cavolo with gorgonzola cheese -very good and then bagna caoda with... More

Recommended by our hotel and a good choice. An atmospheric basement tavern with creative versions of local food (after a while traditional regional food can all seem a bit similar, but this was interesting and high quality).Right in the centre of Asti. One of the better meals we had on an extended tour of Northern Italy.
