Great restaurant and always a highlight on a Milanese trip

I find La Libera rather different to other Italian restaurants. The menu is original and often changing. Involtini of Sword fish gratinated is a starter worth considering. As are the various dishes in pastry (en-croute) You can even have a soup with a thin layer of pastry on top but why not try... read more

Cosy, nice place, serving lovely food. If you are looking for the Milano experience this is the place to go. The small dining room creates a lovely atmosphere.

Having had a special and singular meal in Osteria del Curso (see my review) they recommended La Libera. As we arrived at 2000 hours, early by Milan standards, we were fitted in without a booking and taken through the menu by helpful english speaking staff, and suggested a delicious red at €25. The room is as welcoming as the management... More

Was recommended by a local friend in Milan to try La Libera and it was a great choice. As we were arriving during the busy Milan Furniture Fair week we went to the restaurant beforehand to make a reversion. Upon arrival during lunch time we found the place closed but the owner? (cute/short guy with the handlebar moustache) opened the... More

A restaurant of the locals always packed because it is really good. Great ambience, good service and fantastic food. An experience not to miss in Milan.

I was on a business trip to Milan and decided to try La Libera, in Via Palermo. Popped in to book table, with a client, and was told, don't worry you dont need to book for tomorrow, and we look forward to seeing you. As suggested, popped in the following evening, to be greeted by same man possibly the owner,... More

I visited La Libera for the second time (with a group of 14, which took a bit of arranging in the pretty small restaurant) and again, was pleasantly surprised by atmosphere, the service and above all the food. After having had some Japanese fashion the night before, La Libera was a relief: there is still real Italian food in Milan.... More

The place is nice and cozy, lots of tables and full of people. The ambience reminds a French bistrot. There is a traditional milanese menu and overall Italian cuisine. It is not cheap and not extremely expensive either (one meal, half dessert, a bottle of wine for 4 people came to 42eur each). But in my view it is a... More

I' ve been at la Libera with a friend for a Saturday evening dinner. The venue is the "old milanese trattoria" stlyle, service was good (a little bit of pressure to be quick in ordering). I had stuffed and fried courgette flowers (very tasty), pasta with shrimps (pretty poor portion, a little bit undercooked the pasta) and a dessert (slice... More

Staying in Brera

Neighborhood Profile
Brera
Brera captures the real essence of the city. It is an excellent mix between history and modernity, where tradition meets innovation. Here design and beauty reign. On Via Brera there are the famous Pinacoteca (galleries), the National Gallery of Modern and Antique Art, and the Academy of Fine Arts. Interior design boutiques and intellectual cafes are typical of the district. Walking along Via Madonnina is a must to admire the architecture of buildings and the design stores. On Sundays, going to the local market is an unmissable opportunity for fashion, style and art. Tucked away, there is the Orto Botanico di Brera botanical garden that seems like a painting framed in an ancient fairy structure. Last but not least, it’s worth a visit to Giardini Pubblici Indro Montanelli with its Planetarium, the Civico Museo di Storia Naturale (Natural History Museum).
