Let down by dessert

The historic ambiance is palpable, the service prompt and friendly, the wine by the glass is good, even by Australian standards, and I had a great meal The (white) asparagus starter was delicious. The main course of Milanese veal cutlet was a shock. The plate was half a metre square, and the... read more

This romantic and historic restaurant is located within The Grand Hotel, the oldest hotel in Milan, and the hotel where Verdi lived his last years and died. The restaurant is suffused with the feel of a great opera. The staff is very good and friendly, if slightly formal. The food is outstanding but the menu is a bit limited in... More

Surprisingly we found many of the dishes flavorless and ordinary. NOT what we were expecting (and looking forward to) at all.

Wonderful evening. Food and ambiance excellent. The service superb. Booked via trip advisor and another company which provided a discount on the meal. After dinner the bill was presented and I signed the bill. Had forgotten about the discount. When the lady came to collect the signed she noted the discount was not included. She voided the charge and presented... More

My family and I had dinner at Don Carlos around the holidays. We had reservations for 6 at 7:30PM. The service was spotty - the waiter messed up with the menus and spilled some water. The service definitely should have been better, considering that when we arrived the restaurant was empty and filled up more later in the evening. The... More

We visited for a late dinner after a performance at the nearby opera. In spite of the wonderful, historic (operatic) ambience and the excellent food and drinks at Don Carlos, our experience left a lot to be desired. We proceeded to the restaurant swiftly after the end of the performance around 11pm and arrived ahead of the bulk. Surprisingly, the... More

Good food, wine with romantic atmosphere in the hotel. After enjoying the opera at Scala just 3 minutes walking from the hotel, I enjoyed the best dinner in Italy! Marvelous!!!

Due to some positive reviews written below, and due to suggestion from my business friend, we decide to visit the restaurant again in October 2014, with my wife. This time we were surprised with the dinner overall. We try to pick the most traditional dishes, and wine... and we were very satisfied. The atmosphere was just perfect, elegant and romantic...
