Great local cuisine with a simple but friendly ambience

When you've had enough of eating pizza and lake fish and want something different, this is the place. The menu is small but distinctive, with good quality ingredients, the servings are small (this is a good thing) and the service is friendly.

We had dinner at Trattoria Due Piccioni last night after reading a great review. Wow - were we disappointed! The spinach salad was great and the meat ravioli was ok but the rest of the meal was sub-par, not even average. The steak was tough and flavorless, the eggplant was unedible after one bite, the wine came with a bug... More

there are lots of restaurants in Stresa but many have the same menu, this restaurant is very different. The choice is not vast but there were 4 people in out group, we all had something different and all the food was really good, do try the starters and the deserts as well if you can.The restaurant is quite small but was... We visited this Trattoria based on the reviews on Trip Advisor. It is a real gem. Whilst it is not on the foreshore with spectacular views it more than makes up for it with the quality of the food. The menu is not vast which is always a good sign as they specialise in certain dishes. The service is 1st... More

We have eaten a few times in this restaurant. The decor is enjoyable, they have nice antique furniture including old radios bringing back memories from our childhood or from old movies. The tables are small, this is a romantic restaurant, best for couples. The dishes include something different from the tourist menus in Stresa such as duck and lamb.

The Due Piccioni (two pingeons) is a good restaurant which strikes a good deal between quality and price. It's not a pizzeria, it offers restaurant level food, way more than average. So if you are attentive to budget but are not willing to compromise on the eating experience, this is a good choice also for offering a dinner to friends... More

We arrived on a friday evening and I think the owners were not expecting many patrons. As it turned out they were steady all evening. However they did not miss a beat, the service by the owner was very pleasant and the food was top shelf. A very pleasant evening.

Very friendly staff, couldn't have been more helpful and informative. Food was memorable, and we so enjoyed the house specialty of "wild boar"..... Great local wine, and informative host who told us some of the history of his restaurant, and this historic small town. Would dine there again in a heartbeat.

I was attracted to this restaurant when I read that they had a dessert called 'Birramisu'. "This," I said to myself, "I have got to try." I arrived fairly early because, after having spent the day trekking around the Isola Bella, around Stresa tracking down sights, sites and people from 'Buongiorno Italia' and going up to the Umbrella Museum at... During our short stay in Stresa we stumbled across this small restaurant at the top of the town square. We ate about 8pm and managed to get the last table. The menu was small and modern Italian, the goats cheese starter was outstanding and a main course of guinea fowl was beautiful and tender. Good value for money but get... More
