This as our last night of 5 in Stresa having eaten very well the whole week. we went for the menu Moderno leaving it all up to the chef, who did not fail to impress, with good wines chosen to go with each course. They even allowed us to have different wines with the pasta If we were to a have... Having read a few unhappy reviews of the place we still decided to give it a try. The menu typically changes depending on the catch of the day, which I think is a good thing. Our waiter was very polite and asked us several times if we had any allergies since the menu was not set. Our "primi" was a... More

Worst restaurant we have eaten at in a long time! It's pricy why you expect something special...in our case it was a nightmare! We had the classico menu (3 course) and got pasta with sardines to start with. Good if u like sardines...second dish was a joke! Fish that didn't taste anything. Third course was a fruitsalad! A joke! The... More

Very nice decorated restaurant. Service is excellent. Lot of time was spent to explain the menu in very good english. Food was terrific and choice of wine as well. Real value for money. We will certainly go back.

Really a good eating experience. Truly Italian. Great service really professional. Food was wonderful. Chef takes the time to serve the meal and greet the guests. Worth a visit as a food lover I appreciated this place for its authentic menu and wine list.

My wife and I had a great diner and a great time. We had dietary restrictions and after going through what they could offer us, we found there wasn't much. They didn't get discouraged and took a list of all the fish we could eat for the next evening. The following evening we showed up with my wife and were... More

If you prefer to get best suggestions, individuell top service, good recommandations, nice atmosphere, high class prepered meals, fresh fish and other daily dishes then you should accept high prices and go to this restaurant. After beeing in this city almost 10 times and knowing most restaurants I believe I can compare this restaurant with others in this city. First... More

We meandered in here one night during our recent holiday in Stresa and opted for the 6 course 'Modern' tasting menu, and took the option to have the wine chosen for us. What a fantastic decision. Every course was really good, the wines were perfect, service was exceptional...if I had one complaint, it would be that the Maitre d' spent... More

Wandered in at 7.10 to see the staff eating. Persuaded to stay and happily we did. 6 courses later we are very pleased. Brilliant cooking. Best squid ever and all courses brilliantly cooked. Not cheap but equal to a one star Michelin restaurant any time. Loved it and the maitre d spoke excellent English as well as French and Italian.... More

The owner of the apartment of where we are staying highly recommended Il Clandestino to us. So I promptly made a call and was able to reserve a table for this evening. I also let them know of my dietary requirements which they assured me would be no problem. We opted for the 5 course degustation menu which obviously had... More
