We arrived by boat from Menaggio at 8.05 pm with the boat to Bellagio leaving at 9 so we didn't want to stray far from the pier. We both had a desire for roast chicken and that was on the menu ( with sage ). We also ordered roast potatoes and a mixed salad. The two ladies who served us... More

we went because we didnt feel like leaving hotel but dinner was wonderful - we were fortunate to have wild asparagus and baby goat that Laras brother brought from his farm.

We were very tired from the prior 48 hours of jetting for San Francisco to Milan via Newark and then one night in Milan so we did not feel like going out for a fancy meal. The hotel's dinner was just fine. They served asparagus that was the thinnest I have ever seen, barely the diameter of a #2 pencil... More

We arrived late to Varenna around 9PM. We were excited to see a restaurant in our Hotel. The food was not good at all. We didn't even finish our meal. It's a tourist trap, right next to the ferry. I would not eat there again.

We were staying in the hotel and had a great dinner of pumpkin gnocchi and filled local ravioli. The dessert was divine - poached pear in red wine with a cinnamon panna cotta. So delicious! In off-season, it was a little quiet but we felt the service was very good. The outdoor patio is a great spot for tourist-watching and... More

Arriving late and exhausted, we enjoyed our first meal at the Olivedo very much. There was only one other table--6 men on a business trip. It was quiet, and we could hear their conversation, but it allowed us to talk to them and recommend the pear dessert. We were rewarded with a warm brandy and sugar cocktail on them. We... More

We had lunch here because we were starving and it was very close by. It was a rainy day so we sat inside -- a bit dreary, but the food was excellent! Limited menu but the pumpkin gnocchi with butter and sage, and the ravioli with spinach and ricotta were wonderful!

Everything is in the title...I have never eaten such a bad food...it is a pure tourist trap. The service is nice but more attention should be paid to what is in the plate...

I really liked this hotel. It was literally 5 seconds from the ferry wharf and only a 10 min stroll from the centre of town. The weather was very cold while we were there, but the hotel provided an extra blanket for us. The rooms are furnished with beautiful old fashion pieces which suit the classical period of the rest... The hostess/waitress was extremely unfriendly - apparently did not want our business. Very poor food and environment. Do not eat there - it is a tourist trap right off the boat landing. It momentarily spoiled our impression of Verenna.
