The interior is inviting but...

the food and service is deceiving. What we ordered are too plain for such a high price. The service was slow and the owner is rather rude towards every guest. It was a bis mistake to eat here.

A quiet smallish place with an attractive decor. The food (mushroom salad, lake trout) was excellent and the service attentive. The wine selection was good though by-the-glass was limited. The clientele appeared to be all local. It is in the medieval part of Como and not easy to find, but well worth the effort. Knowledge of Italian helps but is... More

I have been coming to Gesumin with my husband for years, as has much of our family. This is a small place that specializes in a few really excellent dishes (ie the porcini dishes when they are in season), and very much has a local feel in terms of the type of food served, how it's priced, and how the... During our week in Como, we ate at this trattoria twice. The food was well-prepared and a good value. Our family of five all enjoyed their dishes, but most especially the lasagna and gnocchi with gorgonzola. The rabbit I had the second night was a pretty skinny bunny, but otherwise the portion size was perfect for us.

Despite nobody in the restaurant we tried the trattoria gesumin. The welcome was friendly, the food pretty good, even if there was not much on the plate, but what a surprise when we paid! It was really too much expensive! I never eat for so much in italy! We strongly advise not to eat there, we won't never come again!

The atmosphere is cosy and informal, and the food is hearty and uncomplicated and home made with fresh ingredients . We especially enjoyed the artichoke salad, made with fresh (not marinated) artichoke hearts. Antipasti portions were generous, but primi piatti portions a bit on the small side. The staff were EXTREMELY friendly and charming, and we really felt we were... More

We first discovered Trattoria del Gesumin in 2006, in the historical center of Como, when we moved to the area for 3 years (we still return regularly), and have been back many times since. Service has always been very friendly and the food is excellent, with many typical Comasco dishes, seasonal menu changes, and always fresh ingredients. We know the... More

I am Italian, living in london since 2007. I really recommend this place. The food is just great, the ingredients are so highly selected that the dishes are incredibly tasty without being too rich: this because the experienced chef can combine sophisticated flavours with traditional recipes. For me this is the best way to experience North Italian Italian food, in... More

After having flown to Italy from NJ and on severe jet lag, my family and I were looking for a nice trattoria that we could get something light and good. Our hotel recommended Trattoria del Gesumin and we were so thankful for the recommendation! We had salads (so fresh!), penne with asparagus in a cream saffron sauce and potato gnocchi... More
