superb meal

We enjoyed a wonderful meal at hosteria 700. Set in a series of elegant rooms, we had a fabulous evening. As non meat eaters, we had a number of choices. To start, we had a potato and mushroom souffle and onion tarte tatin with parmesan 'ice cream', followed by a fabulous chestnut gnocchi with... read more

"Local" in this part of Italy does mean local. Every town has its different cheeses, sausages, and salami. Try the tray of local cold cuts for starters--so good and doesn't leave much room for a big second course. In 2013 it was closed Monday evening and all day Tuesday, which seems to be a pattern in Cremona--places closed a night... More

I was guided by reviewers to choose the onion tart with parmesan ice cream and then the black rice with scallops. Both dishes were excellent. There were cut up scallops with their coral in the rice dish--I would have liked a bit more of the scallops because they were so good, but the focus was on the black rice. My... More

Several blocks north of the Piazza Roma, nearly out of view in the rear of a courtyard. We were seated in the back room, which is more stately and somewhat less relaxed than the room next door. The food was generally excellent. Come here for the food: the riso nero, black rice with scallops and saffron sauce, was delicious, as... More

Hosteria 700 is tucked away in the corner of a charming little square. The ambience in this restaurant is really lovely. You pass by the kitchen on the way into the dining room which is usually a good sign. The interior has a beautiful painted ceiling, large windows with lovely old shutters etc. The menu is reassuringly small. The service... More

We ate here on our first night in Cremona. Food is top notch and excellent value for the food offered. I had the black rice which is to die for. Also to mention the excellent and professional service offered in this restaurant. Totally recommended.

entering through a little door in a tiny square expectations are immediately surpassed as one moves past the kitchen through the reception filled with just made drying pasta; fresh and some wacky (cocoa) tagliolini, the typical marubini (fat tortellini filled with very firm chicken, veal, pork & salami balls). Seated in the neo-baroque red room eating delicious locally produced breadsticks... More

Introduced to this spot by locals, we entered completely oblivious to the amazing experience we were about to have. Presented with a menu for the ladies(sans pricing) I was torn between many dishes. The crostini muse was a harbinger of delights to come. Bread served in a foot high champagne glasss was novel, but the Gorgonzola, white truffle cream rissoto... More

We stayed in town for four days, so had a chance to sample a number of restaurants. We came to this one because my Italian business colleague recommended it. Luckily, he brought us there because we might not have found it -- tucked away in the corner of what looked like a parking lot, it was quite unobtrusive. But once... More
