Lovely restaurant tucked away down a side street

We had a wonderful meal here with tasty lasagne, really fresh fish and amazing tiramsui. The owners were really attentive and helpful despite the lack of our Italian and their English, but this was not a problem. The food tasted home cooked in the best Italian way and was great value for money.

We spent 1 night in Santa Margherita in order to visit Portafino (HUGE waste of time) on our 3-week trip in Tuscany. We loved, loved, loved Santa Margherita. And this restaurant is a gem. The owner and his wife treat you like family. They bring out appetizers while you're waiting for your meal that you didn't order nor did we... More

We were looking for a great meal and were on our way to the Michelin restaurant across the street from this quaint restaurant, and took the detour. So glad we did!! unpretentious delicious meal started with Fresh Melon & Proscuitto, and a fantastic Mussels in brodo to die for....next a fresh from the ocean branzino and salad from the garden... I stopped in out of the wet weather. The owners greeted me warmly. I enjoyed a delicious meal prepared to order with the freshest ingredients. I had forgotten my umbrella and they found one for me to use to keep me dry on my walk to the hotel. So very kind.....and unexpected.

10 course dinner with wine and bottled water, and a glass of Proseco to start. Delicious food and great service all for $55 euros

We were looking for a nice restaurant off the tourist path for dinner and stumbled upon Il Faro 1 blk off the main promenade. The restaurant was empty but we liked the ambience so we took a chance and went in. It was exactly what we were hoping to find. The food was excellent, the price was reasonable, and Roberto... More

We found this jewel by accident. The owners were most welcome & served the most delicious pasta ever. The pasta was as good or better than my Italian mother ever made. I had the lasagna which was nothing like our American version. The taste was Devine. We ate there three times in 6 days. We ended one meal with 4... More

We stumbled upon Il Faro at lunchtime. It was completely empty which didn't bode well, but we couldn't have been more wrong. Welcoming couple who did their best to cope with our appalling Italian. Gave us a freebie starter of a slice of grilled aubergine with olive oil and herbs, absolutely deliicious. We both had fresh pasta with either seafood... More

This restaurant is tucked away on the edge of town. Its run by a couple who speak little English but are passionate about making their guests happy. We started with complimentary pizza slices and a glass of sparkling wine. We ordered a salad and a fish mixed grill to share, it was sea bass, prawns, calamari and scampi. All perfectly... More

we loved the ambience. The staff, husband and wife I think, were attentive and remembered we had visited previously. Food was great- not huge choice but what we had was yummy, would definitely return again and again!
