Just what we hoped to find

The sight through the door is exciting. Good wines at E5 a glass and delicious, simple food. We had the Gerwurztraminer, Chianti, Carpaccio and Crudites, so often enjoyed by us in the back streets of Tuscany. Strong tastes and good value. Certainly for this area. This was an excellent... read more

Good quality authentic food, good choice of local wines. Family run restaurant in the city centre. I'll be back.

After reading hundreds of reviews for restaurants in Santa Margherita Ligure and Portofino, where you pay huge amount of money for mediocre food and terrible service, we chose Vineria Macchiavello to have our meal, which was truly the BEST choice. The atmosphere of this wine bar, the attentive, warm service with a smile and, most importantly, the delicious pasta exceeded... More

You can only describe the list of wines sold as flawless, and the antipasti served was excellent. We were there in February, with is not necessarily the best month for the Italian Riviera so the place was quiet (one other couple there at 7.30pm pm on a Saturday but it is a cosy place. Only one, small problem. It really... More

Good wine bar with easy atmosphere and good selection of wines. It is a family runned business and keepers are fast and smart waiters too. We enjoyed two very good roastbeef served with fresh green salad and bread. We ordered also a couple of red local wine glasses which revealed to be an excellent choice. Final price just 35€ for... We found the place in a rainy Sunday, in the internal street. Staff were nice with good English, food was tasty and wine was refreshing

We had a very nice night at Vineria Macchiavello! This old little vineria where you can feel the history in the walls has become a fantastic little resturant that serve wellmade classic italian food together with good wines in different price ranges. We did miss recommendations on wine that would suit the orderd food. Otherwise, 5 stars.

This place has grown into an excellent location for an often quiet glass of wine and although we stuck to the Italian variety there is much on offer. The proprieters show a huge amount of knowledge and willingness to advise but most of all make your stay in the bar be one that will draw you back for more. We... More
